Pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics
The synthetic hormone dexamethasone is a derivative of glucocorticosteroids, produced in the laboratory. Penetrating into the tissues of the eye, it reduces capillary permeability, strengthens the walls of blood vessels. At the same time, the activity of mediators increases, which begin to suppress the inflammatory process. Local immunity is stimulated, the manifestation of allergies is reduced.
Dexamethasone easily penetrates through the epithelium into the mucous membranes, affects the cornea and conjunctiva of the eyeball. The maximum concentration of the hormonal compound is observed in the fluid that is released to moisturize the tissues. The component goes through the process of metabolism in the liver through the lymphatic and circulatory system and is excreted in the kidneys after 24–36 hours.

Instructions for use, method and dosage
You can use drops as directed by a doctor after a diagnosis. With purulent discharge, you must first pass tests, do a bacterial culture. The instructions for use contain the following recommendations regarding the dosage of the medication:
In case of an inflammatory disease, 1-2 drops should be injected into each eye after 3-6 hours. The duration of therapy is up to 2 weeks.
For burns for accelerated recovery, 1 drop 3 times a day. The course of treatment lasts 5-7 days.
For allergic conjunctivitis - 1 drop in the morning and evening until the cause disappears.
The solution must be dripped into the conjunctival sac by carefully moving the lower eyelid back. Doctors recommend that you close your eyes, lightly massage the inner corner at the bridge of the nose, so that the liquid is distributed over the tissues.
The use of drops can be supplemented with Maxidex ointment with a similar composition. It relieves inflammation and swelling of the eyelids, prevents the exacerbation of the disease. Applications should be applied in a thin layer along the lash line 3 times a day. The course of treatment lasts 1-3 weeks.

Reviews
Maria, 26 years old
I have been wearing lenses for more than a year and often experience inflammation, irritation and redness of the eyeball. On the recommendation of a doctor, I bought Maxidex drops, which I use during an exacerbation. In just 2-3 instillations, the burning sensation, discomfort disappears, the condition of the cornea improves. A small bottle is enough for a course of treatment, but one should not forget about contraindications.
Elena, 41 years old
Recently, seasonal allergies have exacerbated, there was eye inflammation with the release of pus, mucus. Simultaneously with antihistamine tablets, I used Maxidex drops 2 times a day. Swelling has significantly decreased, itching, burning, and cramps have gone. But I am wary of the composition, so I use it for no more than a week.
