Composition

The ophthalmic agent is a colorless transparent liquid with 2% active substance content. The composition is based on dorzolamide (hydrochloride).
In addition to it, the following are used in production:
    hyethylosis;
    citric acid monohydrate;
    sodium hydroxide;
    mannitol;
    benzalkonium chloride;
    distilled water.
The drug is packaged in 5 ml bottles made of polymer material. For comfortable use, the container is equipped with a dispenser.
In addition to the dropper, an annotation is placed in a cardboard box, in which the rules for taking eye drops are available.

Pharmacology

Dorzopt drops belong to the group of antiglaucoma drugs. The main component of the composition inhibits the action of carbonic anhydrase.
Upon penetration into the mucous membrane of the eye, the substance reduces the production of intraocular fluid, without causing a spasm of accommodation and other visual disturbances.
The drug Dorzopt is characterized by low systemic absorption.
The passage of the solution into the fundus zone is through the sclera or limbus. Upon contact with blood, the active ingredient of the drug quickly penetrates into erythrocytes.
The main amount of chemicals is excreted through the kidneys in the first month after the therapy. The rest is released from erythrocytes rather slowly over 4-8 months.
Taking into account the duration of glaucoma treatment, the manufacturer offers a more convenient form of release, where the package includes 3 vials of 5 ml at once.

Indications for use

The manufacturer identifies the following areas of drug use:
    Ophthalmic hypertension;
    Open-angle glaucoma;
    Secondary glaucoma;
    Pseudoexfoliative glaucoma

Instructions for use

The annotation to the drug indicates that the solution should be injected 1 drop at a time, directing the dropper tip towards the outer corner of the eye behind the conjunctival sac.
The number of procedures per day is determined by the attending physician, depending on the condition of the corneal tissues and the progression of the disease.
When using only Dorzopt drugs, three times a day is usually prescribed, in combination with other drugs - 2 times a day.
The effectiveness of the solution largely depends on the correctness of the procedure, therefore it is important to observe the following recommendations:
    Before instillation, you need to take a comfortable posture, preferably reclining.
    After the introduction of the drop, unhurried circular movements are made by the pupil of the eye to distribute the medicine over the mucous membrane.
    With the index finger, lightly press on the lacrimal opening so that the solution does not pass into it. Hold for no more than 50-60 seconds.
    With combined treatment, the interval between drug injections is observed. It is at least 10-15 minutes.

Overdose

An ophthalmic agent often gives side effects, so you should not exceed the dose or increase the number of procedures.
If the warnings are violated, the following symptoms are noted:
    disorders of the central nervous system;
    acidosis (hyperchloremic type);
    change in water and electrolyte metabolism.
To eliminate the signs of an overdose, treatment is used to eliminate the symptoms.
Also, the amount of electrolytes and the pH level of the blood are monitored.

Contraindications

Like any drug, Dorzopt has a number of contraindications, which are divided into absolute and relative.
Drops are not prescribed for the following pathologies:
    Renal failure (chronic form). The attending physician takes into account the creatinine values during clearance (if it is less than 30 ml / min, the drug can provoke a complication).
    Allergy to one or more substances of the composition.
Contraindications are also: childhood and adolescence (admission is allowed from the age of 18), pregnancy, lactation, combined treatment, including the intake of oral carbonic anhydrase inhibitors.
Restrictions on the use of the medication apply to patients who have the following health problems:
    Pathological processes developing in the cornea.
    Diabetes.
    Liver dysfunction.
    The period of rehabilitation after the performed antiglaucomatous surgery. Pharmacological support is necessary due to the high risk of retinal detachment and the development of eye hypotension.

Reviews about Dorzopt

Alexey, 53 years old:
Complex treatment of glaucoma involved the use of three drugs simultaneously, one of which was Dorzopt. The doctor warned me about possible side effects. From my own experience, I can say that the therapy was successful, but after the instillation of the anti-glaucoma agent, a strong burning sensation was felt, which took place for 10-15 minutes.
He did not drive a car while his vision remained blurred. In the first week, the mucous membrane of the eye was irritated, but then this symptom disappeared. In general, I can attest to the effectiveness of eye drops.

Margarita, 39 years old:
Dorzopt got acquainted with the instructions for eye drops in detail only at home, wearing glasses. I was immediately frightened by a rather impressive list of side effects, but when used, none of them bothered me.
The treatment was successful, eyesight was restored, the terrible diagnosis was withdrawn. As a piece of advice, I would like to recommend to everyone who uses glaucoma medication to strictly adhere to the treatment regimen and special instructions regarding eye instillation and the combination of drops with other means.
