Questions and answer

On the Next packaging I read the phrase: “combined analgesic”, what does this mean?

The composition of the drug Nekst includes two active ingredients (components), which have a pronounced analgesic effect, but differ in the mechanism of action. Paracetamol has a central analgesic effect, while ibuprofen has a predominantly peripheral analgesic and anti-inflammatory effect.
The combination of two analgesics with a different mechanism of action provides effects on different pathogenesis stages (stages of formation) of the pain syndrome, which allows to achieve greater efficiency and at the same time improve the safety profile (by reducing the dose of paracetamol, compared with monopreparations).

In the pharmacy, I was offered instead of Nurofen to try a new analgesic Next What is the difference between them?

Nurofen contains ibuprofen - it belongs to nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), which has analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects mainly in peripheral tissues - due to blockade of cyclooxygenase 1 and 2 enzymes. Nekst is a combination of ibuprofen and paracetamol. Paracetamol has an impact on the central component of the formation of pain - because acts not in peripheral tissues, but in the central nervous system.

Can the Next drug be addictive?

The results of studies of the effectiveness and safety of the components of the drug - paracetamol and ibuprofen - indicate the absence of the development of addiction and dependence in their application, even in the case of long-term use. In addition, we would like to draw your attention to the fact that, according to the instructions for medical use, the maximum duration of taking the Next drug is no more than 3 days as an antipyretic and no more than 5 days as an anesthetic. Longer treatment is possible only after consulting a doctor.

How effective is Next drug for headache?

Due to the presence in the composition of the drug two painkillers that act on different parts of the pathogenesis of pain, including headache, NEXT can be effectively used for headaches of various origins. The directional, complementary effect of the two components has a rapid therapeutic effect and a pronounced analgesic effect.

The instructions for the drug Next in the indications for use indicated "headache (including migraine)." What's the difference?

Headache may be due to various reasons, currently there are more than 100 types of headache. Headache can be a leading symptom for more than 45 different diseases. At the same time, migraine is an independent diagnosis, due to the peculiarities of the mechanisms of its development (in particular, the participation of neurogenic and vascular factors) and a serious influence on the general well-being and even the quality of life of patients. Therapy for migraine headaches requires an integrated approach, while paracetamol and NSAID preparations are usually the first stage of migraine therapy.

Is it possible to use Next during pregnancy?

Studies on the effect of the drug Nekst on the course of pregnancy have not been conducted. The use of paracetamol during pregnancy is permitted with caution, as prescribed by a physician. Ibuprofen is contraindicated in the third trimester of pregnancy and can be used with caution in the first and second trimester of pregnancy. Therefore, the use of the drug Nekst contraindicated during the third trimester of pregnancy; if necessary, the use of the drug in the I and II trimester of pregnancy should be careful - the use is possible only on doctor's prescription in cases where the potential benefit outweighs the possible risk.
