The drug Enzystal belongs to a group of drugs that compensate for the insufficiency of the enzymatic activity of the pancreas. The action of the drug is aimed at improving the digestive processes in various pathological conditions and eliminating the symptoms accompanying these disorders. Enzystal is indicated for chronic pancreatitis, steatorrhea against the background of malabsorption, recent removal of the pancreas, stomach or part of it, malignant tumors in the pancreas, chronic pathologies of the digestive system and preparation for ultrasound or X-ray examination of the gastrointestinal tract. Contraindicated in hypersensitivity, cholelithiasis, intestinal obstruction, obstructive jaundice, hepatitis, exacerbation of chronic pancreatitis, acute pancreatitis, hyperbilirubinemia, gallbladder empyema and liver failure.

Dosage form

Enzystal is available in the form of enteric-coated tablets. Packaged in blisters of 10 units. Each carton contains 2 or 8 blisters.

Description and composition

Enzystal has the form of round, biconvex tablets, coated with an enteric sugar coat.
1 tablet contains:
    pancreatin - 192 mg (which is equivalent to the activity of lipase 6000 IU, amylase 4500 IU and protease 300 IU);
    hemicellulase - 50 mg;
    bile extract (bovine) - 25 mg.
Other components of the composition:
    gelatin;
    lactose;
    titanium dioxide;
    beeswax;
    talc;
    sugar;
    cellulose acetate phthalate;
    magnesium stearate;
    gum arabic;
    colloidal silicon dioxide;
    carnauba wax;
    diethyl phthalate;
    calcium carbonate.

Pharmacological group

The drug is a combined agent, the action of which is aimed at replenishing the lack of enzymes secreted by the pancreas. The drug has a pronounced lipolytic, proteolytic and amylolytic effect, participating in the direct breakdown of fats, proteins and carbohydrates. Due to the protective shell of the dosage form of the drug release, the active substances of the drug are not split until they enter the small intestine. Under the influence of Enzystal, the symptoms of digestive disorders (for example, flatulence, diarrhea, bloating, shortness of breath) are eliminated, the digestive process in children is improved, and the activation of the pancreas, stomach and small intestine is provoked.
Bile extract improves the breakdown and absorption of fats, enhancing the activity of the lipase enzyme, and also promotes better absorption of fat-soluble vitamins K, E, D and A.
Hemicellulase is an enzyme whose activity is aimed at improving the breakdown of plant fiber.

Contraindications

The main prohibitions on the therapeutic use of the drug Enzystal are conditions such as:
    acute form of pancreatitis;
    individual intolerance to active or auxiliary elements of the dosage form;
    empyema of the gallbladder;
    mechanical jaundice;
    the stage of exacerbation of the chronic form of pancreatitis;

    hyperbilirubinemia;
    hepatic precoma or coma;
    cholelithiasis;

Applications and doses

The dosage form of the drug should be taken orally whole, without chewing, with a sufficient volume of water or other liquid. The tablets should be taken during or immediately after a meal.

Adult patients over 18 years old should take 1-2 tablets of Enzystal 3 times a day. An increase in dosage is possible only as directed by your doctor.
The duration of treatment can range from several days to several months, which is associated with the different nature of this or that pathology.
To prepare for an X-ray or ultrasound examination, it is necessary to use the drug within 2-3 days before the procedure, 2 tablets 2-3 times a day.

When Enzystal is combined with cimetidine, an increase in the therapeutic activity of pancreatin, hemicellulase and bile extract is observed.
The drug enhances the absorption of antibiotic drugs, para-aminosalicylic acid and sulfonamides.
Antacids containing calcium and / or magnesium ions reduce the pharmacological activity of Enzystal.

Special instructions

Enzystal does not have a depressing effect on the patient's cognitive abilities, the ability to drive various vehicles, engage in extreme sports and other activities that require increased concentration of attention and speed of psychomotor reactions.

Overdose

Symptoms of Enzystal intoxication:
    hyperuricemia;
    hyperuricuria.

Storage conditions

Enzystal is stored in a dark, dry place out of the reach of children. Storage temperature ranges from 15 to 25 ° C.
