Composition of 1 film-coated tablet:
    active substance: butamirate citrate - 50 mg;
    auxiliary components: colloidal silicon dioxide, hypromellose K15M Premium, povidone K-25, magnesium stearate, talc, lactose monohydrate;
    film coat: propylene glycol, hypromellose 6 mPas, talc, titanium dioxide (E171), iron dye oxide red (E172).

Pharmacodynamics

The active ingredient of Panatus forte is butamirate - a centrally acting antitussive that is not related to opium alkaloids, either in chemical or pharmacological characteristics.
It has a direct effect on the cough center, due to which it suppresses cough. It has bronchodilating activity. Improves spirometry (reduces airway resistance) and blood oxygenation, making breathing easier.

Pharmacokinetics

Once in the gastrointestinal tract, butamirate is rapidly and completely absorbed.
With repeated use, the plasma concentration of the drug remains linear, cumulation in the body is not observed.
Butamirate undergoes hydrolysis in the blood, initially to metabolites of 2-phenylbutyric acid and diethylaminoethoxyethanol, which also have antitussive activity.
The substance itself and its metabolites are almost completely (approximately 95%) bound to plasma proteins. This explains their long-term therapeutic effect and long T½ (half-life).
Metabolites are excreted mainly by the kidneys, and metabolites with an acid reaction are significantly associated with glucuronic acid. T½ is 6 hours.
