    active component: carbocysteine - 2 g;
    auxiliary components: methyl parahydroxybenzoate, sodium hydroxide (up to pH 6.1–6.3), sucrose, cherry flavor, raspberry flavor, crimson dye (Ponceau 4R), purified water.
One scoop (5 ml) of syrup contains 3.5 g of sucrose, 100 mg of carbocysteine and 13 mg of sodium.

Pharmacodynamics

The active substance of the syrup Libexin Muco - carbocysteine, is a mucolytic, thin the sputum and facilitate its excretion from the lungs. The mechanism of its action is based on the effect on the gel phase of bronchial secretion and rupture of disulfide bridges of glycoproteins, as a result of which the viscosity of the secretion decreases and its elasticity increases.
Carbocysteine activates the goblet cell enzyme (sialic transferase) of the bronchial mucosa, normalizes the ratio of neutral and acid sialomucins, restores the structure and promotes the regeneration of the mucous membrane, resumes the secretion of immunoglobulin A (specific protection), activates the work of the ciliary epithelium, improves non-specific local protection of the respiratory mucosa from external influences.

Pharmacokinetics

After oral administration, carbocysteine is actively absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract. The maximum serum concentration is reached after about 2 hours. Due to the effect of the first passage through the liver, carbocysteine has a very low bioavailability (less than 10%).
The half-life of the drug is approximately 2 hours. Excretion is carried out mainly by the kidneys.

Indications for use

Libexin Muco is used for chronic and acute diseases of the ENT organs, bronchi and lungs, accompanied by the formation of mucus and difficult to separate, viscous sputum, namely: bronchitis, tracheitis, rhinitis, sinusitis, tracheobronchitis, otitis media, bronchiectatic disease, bronchial asthma.

Reviews

The drug is used in both children and adults, but reviews about Libexin Muco in the form of syrup for children are slightly more. The drug copes very well with dry cough, contributing to a better discharge of sputum, and helps with diseases of the upper respiratory tract. The syrup has a pleasant taste and smell; children are happy to drink it.
Sometimes Libexin Muco was not effective enough. Users note the high sugar content in the syrup, as well as the presence of dyes and flavorings in its composition. The drug may cause allergies. Another disadvantage is its cost.
