Pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics

Vigamox eye drops are among the medicinal products used in ophthalmology. The main active ingredient is an effective antibiotic moxifloxacin. When instilled, it is completely absorbed by the mucous membrane and tissues of the organ of vision, penetrates into the blood vessels, cornea and sclera. Suppresses the growth and reproduction of pathogenic bacteria, destroys cell walls and bonds at the DNA level. This allows you to quickly stop the development of an inflammatory infection at any stage.
Moxifloxacin is active against different groups of bacteria:
    gram-negative (Klebsiella, Moraxella, Enterobacteriaceae, Escherichia coli);
    gram-positive (Staphylococcus aureus, streptococci);
    atypical pathogens of infectious diseases (chlamydia, mycoplasma).
The composition refers to broad-spectrum antibiotics, it is recommended for young children. It inhibits the growth of anaerobes, is used in the complex treatment of complications of pneumonia, rhinitis. Among the useful properties of additional components:
    Hydrochloric acid. Moisturizes, improves metabolism, stimulates the restoration of injured eye tissues.
    Sodium hydrochloride. Retains liquid on the surface of the eyeball, creates a light film from the drug, protects against further spread of infection.
An important additional component is boric acid. As part of Vigamox drops, it is responsible for the suppression of fungal spores and pathogens, has a disinfecting and anti-inflammatory effect. Effectively fights infections, cleans mucous membranes from impurities and purulent discharge.
Pharmacokinetic studies of the drug have shown that when instilled into the eyes, the drug enters the bloodstream at a minimum dose. It is completely neutralized by the liver and excreted from the body within 12-13 hours. This allows prescribing a medicine for children and patients with kidney pathologies.

In rare cases, drug glaucoma is diagnosed: with prolonged use, intraocular pressure rises, dark spots appear, headache and irritability occur. The risk of side effects increases if the medication is instilled over the recommended period of 10 days.

Reviews

Elena, 31 years old
Twins often have conjunctivitis - they infect each other, and the last time I got sick after improper treatment. The ophthalmologist recommended Vigamox for the whole family as the most effective and safe for children. Applied according to the instructions 3 times a day, 1-2 drops. I noticed improvements already on the second day, by the evening the burning and redness disappeared. I recommend the antibiotic as a composition with a gentle and mild effect, which quickly relieves infection and suppuration.
Olga, 29 years old
After a trip to the sea, the child became very ill with ARVI. In addition to coughing and a painful runny nose, yellow discharge from the eyes began. The doctor suggested conjunctivitis against the background of a cold with damage to the lacrimal canal. I advised you to try Vigamox antibacterial drops for a course of 5-6 days. Pre-washed with Furacilin solution, after which she buried her eyes. The effect appeared on the second day. I am satisfied with the result, but I consider it overpriced for a small 5 ml bottle.
