Release form and composition

The drug Drotaverine is available in the form of tablets intended for oral administration. Tablets are small in size, round, with a horizontal strip on one side of a light yellow color with a slight greenish tint.

Pharmacological effect

Drotaverine is a myotropic antispasmodic. Drotaverine hydrochloride inhibits phosphodiesterase IV, resulting in the accumulation of intracellular cyclic adenosine monophosphate and subsequent inactivation of the myosin kinase light chain, which results in relaxation of smooth muscles.
