Biochemical composition and release form

The arteriodilating drug Papazol is produced in the form of flattened white or light gray cylindrical tablets, which contain:
    active substances: papaverine and bendazole;
    inactive substances: emulsifiers E553b and E572, potato starch.
Tablets are produced in cellular paper packs of 10 pieces. Each of them contains 300 mg of papaverine and bendazole.

Pharmacotherapeutic properties

Papazol is a combined medication that contains two active components: papaverine + bendazole. They have pronounced vasodilating, immunostimulating and hypotensive properties.
The principle of action of a myotropic antispasmodic is based on blocking enzymes that hydrolyze phosphoester bonds that are located in the muscle fibers of the vessels. The accumulation of adenosine monophosphate leads to a decrease in the concentration of intracellular calcium in smooth muscles, resulting in a vasodilating effect.
The vasodilating effect is manifested to a greater extent in relation to the arterial vessels. An increase in their inner diameter leads to a decrease in vascular resistance and, as a result, in blood pressure.
The antispasmodic drug Papazol has a vasodilating effect on the abdominal organs. The papaverine contained in it eliminates muscle spasms in the biliary tract, the digestive tract and the ureter. In turn, bendazole affects the functional activity of imidazole receptors, thereby lowering blood pressure.
In the case of systematic use, the drug has a stimulating effect on the functional activity of the spinal cord. Papaverine + bendazole increase the body's resistance by activating phagocytes, increasing the biosynthesis of interferon and nucleic acids. This leads to an increase not only in resistance to infections, but also in tissue resistance to hypoxia.

Indications for use

Papazol is used as an antispasmodic and vasodilator in the treatment of pathologies of the gastrointestinal tract and the cardiovascular system. Indications for the appointment of a peripheral vasodilator are:
    impaired cerebral circulation;
    spasms of the urinary tract;
    hypertonic disease;
    pylorospasm;
    ulcerative duodenal ulcer and stomach;
    cholecystitis;
    cramping abdominal pain;
    microstroke;
    spasm of the gatekeeper;
    paralysis of the facial nerve;
    spastic colitis.
In complex therapy, Papazol is used to reduce the severity of symptoms of neurological disorders, as well as the residual effects of poliomyelitis and irritable bowel syndrome.

Dosage regimen

There is no objective information on the safety of using the drug by young children. Therefore, pills are not prescribed for patients under the age of 12 years. To relieve spastic pain and restore normal peripheral circulation, patients are prescribed 1 tablet no more than 3 times a day.
It is recommended to take the medicine after meals with still water. The duration of therapy depends on the nature of the pain and the reasons that caused the pathological changes in the body. When pills are taken for 2 weeks, the drug exhibits pronounced immunostimulating properties.

Special instructions

Instructions for use recommend reducing the daily dose of myotropic antispasmodic for patients over 65 years of age and those who have suffered severe traumatic brain injury. Abuse of pills is fraught with a decrease in the density of the vascular walls and, as a result, internal bleeding.
Papaverine + Bendazole put an excessive strain on the detoxification organs and the thymus gland. Therefore, it is necessary to reduce the daily dose of medication for hypothyroidism, liver or kidney dysfunction. Restrictions apply to those patients who suffer from prostate hypertrophy.

Alcohol compatibility

During the use of a myotropic antispasmodic, ethanol-containing drinks are not consumed, which is associated with a possible increase in the hypotensive effect. The ethyl alcohol contained in alcohol potentiates the vasodilating effect of the drug, which can subsequently lead to a critical decrease in blood pressure.

Gestation and lactation

The safety of Papazol during gestation and breastfeeding has not been established. It is assumed that the antispasmodic can negatively affect the placental circulation and reduce the intensity of contractions when using tablets on the eve of childbirth. Also, the toxic effect of bendazole and papaverine on the reproductive system and intrauterine development of the fetus is not excluded.

Interaction with medications

You should not combine Papazol with the following medicines due to the increased antihypertensive effect:
    procainamide;
    diuretics;
    antispasmodics;
    muscle relaxants;
    tricyclic antidepressants;
    antipsychotics;
    sedatives;
    reserpine.
Papaverine + bendazole reduce the therapeutic activity of anticholinesterase agents on smooth muscle receptors. The combined administration of the drug with astringents and adsorbents leads to a decrease in the rate of absorption of active substances from the gastrointestinal tract.

Overdose

In overdoses, Papazol negatively affects the functioning of the digestive system. Taking more than 5 tablets at a time may be accompanied by the following adverse reactions:
    heaviness in the stomach;
    pain in the epigastric region;
    fast saturation;
    retention of food in the stomach;
    nausea;
    flatulence;
    metallic taste in the mouth;
    stool disorders;
    fast fatiguability;
    drowsiness;
    lowering blood pressure.
When symptoms of an overdose appear, symptomatic therapy is carried out, which consists in washing the stomach, taking activated carbon and alkaline mineral water. In case of deterioration of health, it is necessary to seek help from a doctor.

Side effects

Most often, Papazol is well tolerated by patients of all age categories. Undesirable effects occur mostly due to overdose and hypersensitivity to the components of the drug. The instruction indicates the possibility of developing the following adverse reactions when taking a peripheral vasodilator:
    increased sweating;
    violation of the rhythm of myocardial contraction;
    a feeling of heaviness in the epigastric region;
    dizziness;
    red spots on the skin;
    nettle fever;
    AV blockade.
An antispasmodic reduces intestinal motility, and therefore patients may experience constipation. To normalize the gastrointestinal tract, it is recommended to reduce the daily dose of the drug or replace it with other vasodilating and hypotensive agents.

Contraindications for use

Taking Papazol is contraindicated in pregnancy and hypersensitivity to bendazole or papaverine. It is also strongly discouraged to use tablets for:
    epileptic seizures;
    violation of atrioventricular conduction;
    broncho-obstructive pulmonary disease;
    respiratory failure.
An arteriodilating drug is used with caution in adrenal insufficiency, craniocerebral trauma, prostatic hypertrophy and hypotonic disease. In case of violation of intestinal motility, it is not recommended to take pills for more than 5-7 days in a row.

Storage conditions

The tablets are stored in a ventilated dry place at temperatures up to 25 degrees Celsius. Their shelf life is 5 years from the date of production.
