Yohimbine hydrochloride is a drug used to treat impotence.

Release form and composition

Dosage form - tablets: white or white with a yellowish tinge, beveled (in polymer containers or plastic cans, 50 pcs., In a cardboard box 1 container / can).
Composition of 1 tablet:
    active substance: yohimbine hydrochloride - 5 mg;
    auxiliary components: lactose monohydrate, potato starch, calcium stearate.

Pharmacodynamics

Yohimbine is a selective α2-adrenergic receptor blocker. It increases the release of norepinephrine from nerve endings and the flow of sympathetic impulses from the central nervous system, thus exerting a sympathomimetic effect.
The drug increases motor activity, causes vasodilation of the genital, intestinal and renal arteries; stimulates sexual activity.
It has been experimentally established that yohimbine promotes the normalization of sexual function and the ability to coitus, weakened as a result of stress; has a stimulating effect on the central nervous system; eliminates inhibition of erection associated with stimulation of α2-adrenergic receptors.
Yohimbine hydrochloride is a low-toxic drug, it has no effect on the genetic apparatus of spermatozoa.

Pharmacokinetics

Yohimbine 45-60 minutes after ingestion is completely absorbed in the digestive tract. The maximum concentration in the blood is reached approximately 45–75 minutes after oral administration. 82% of plasma yohimbine binds to protein.
The substance is evenly distributed in the tissues. It is metabolized both in the liver and outside it. Cumulation of the drug when taken orally in the recommended doses does not occur.
The half-life after administration of a single dose ranges from 0.25 to 2.5 hours. After 24 hours, yohimbine is practically not detected in the urine. Excretion mainly occurs by the kidneys.
