Composition and form of release

Regardless of the form of release, the main composition of the substance is represented by the following components:
    The active ingredient in the form of mesalazine in an amount of 250 g (tablets Salofalk, rectal suppositories);
    Auxiliary components in the form of anhydrous sodium carbonate, anhydrous colloidal silicon dioxide, microcrystalline cellulose, talc, titanium dioxide, macrogol, hypromellose, dibutyl phthalate.

Indications for use

    Prevention and treatment of exacerbations of Crohn's disease;

Pharmachologic effect

Salofalk is an intestinal anti-inflammatory drug that provides a local anti-inflammatory effect associated with the inhibition of neutrophilic lipoxygenase, as well as the synthesis of leukotrienes and prostaglandins.
    The active component stops the degranulation, migration, phagocytosis of neutrophils and the process of secretion of immunoglobulins by lymphocytes. An antioxidant effect is noted due to the fact that mesalazine is capable of binding to free oxygen radicals and their destruction. Also, the substance can trap those radicals that are formed from reactive oxygen compounds.
Reviews of Salofalk by experts indicate that the speed of the drug depends on its form: tablets completely dissolve in the intestine 165–225 minutes after ingestion, and granules approximately 4–5 hours later.

Instructions for use

According to the instructions for use, Salofalk tablets should be taken after meals, without chewing and drinking plenty of water.
    Adults 500 mg 3 times / day. In severe forms of the disease, the dose can be increased to 3-4 g / day for 8-12 weeks.

Contraindications

    glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency;
    children under 3 years old.
