Pharmacodynamics

The actions of Espumisan L, due to the active substance included in its composition (simethicone):
    a decrease in the amount of gases in the gastrointestinal tract: it exhibits surface-active properties and helps to reduce the surface tension at the gas / liquid interface, whereby the formation of gas bubbles is hindered, their merging and foam destruction in the intestine occurs, and the released gas under the influence of intestinal peristalsis excreted naturally or absorbed;
    prevention of image defects due to the presence of gas bubbles during diagnostic studies.

Pharmacokinetics

Simethicone is a chemically inert substance that, when taken orally, is not absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract and acts only in its lumen. It does not interact with enzymes and microorganisms, does not affect the digestion processes. Simethicone is excreted unchanged by the intestines.

Indications for use

    Remheld's syndrome, increased gas production in the postoperative period, aerophagia, flatulence (excess formation and accumulation of gases in the gastrointestinal tract);
    symptoms of excessive flatulence caused by functional dyspepsia;
    intestinal colic in newborns and infants;
    preparation for ultrasound examination, esophagogastroduodenoscopy, radiography and other diagnostic studies of the pelvic organs and abdominal cavity, including obtaining images by the double contrast method (as an additive to contrast media suspensions);
    acute intoxication with detergents, which include tensides (as an antifoam agent).

Contraindications

    hereditary fructose intolerance [since the drug contains sorbitol (sorbitol)];
    intestinal obstruction;
    individual intolerance to the components contained in Espumisan L.
