Composition of spray Maxicold Lor
The active substance of the spray is hexetidine in a concentration of 0.2% - 80 mg of hexetidine in one bottle of Maxicold Lor.
Additional components of the drug:
glycerol (17%);
ethyl alcohol (4%);
levomenthol;
component of eucalyptus essential oil;
peppermint oil;
caustic soda;
lemon acid;
sweetener;
propellant.
Like all sprays containing levomenthol, Maxicold Lor has a pronounced smell of menthol.
Maxicold spray is available in aerosol form in 40 ml aluminum bottles. The release of the contents is metered by pressing the discharge valve due to the pressure created by the propellant.
Instructions for use
The bottle is equipped with a removable nozzle with an extended spray. In accordance with the recommendations set forth in the instructions for the use of Maxicold Lor, do not leave the nozzle on the bottle between doses of medicine. The glycerol that is part of the product has a viscous consistency: the substance remaining in the tube after use has the property to thicken, preventing the further use of the spray.
Apply MaxiCold Lor aerosol following the instructions:
Remove the cap from the bottle and put on a removable nozzle.
If you are using the product for the first time or after a long break, press the nozzle several times until the liquid begins to spray.
Hold the bottle upright. Place your index finger or thumb on the spray nozzle for later pressing.
Insert the nozzle tube shallow into the mouth.
Hold your breath.
Press the nozzle 3 times, making sure that the spraying occurs evenly (for example, with pharyngitis), or, directing the tube to the area that needs to be processed (for example, on the tonsils, on the affected areas of the oral mucosa).
After use, remove the nozzle, rinse it in warm water and dry naturally.
Be sure to close the bottle with a cap.
The drug “sticks” well to the mucosa and remains on it for 12 hours (in residual amounts - up to 3 days). This makes possible and sufficient twice the use of Maxicold ENT per day.
Instructions for use for children
Topical hexetidine is safe and effective in children.
Since inhalation of the sprayed aerosol can cause airway spasms, and, in addition, impair their drainage function, the drug should not be used if the child does not know how to hold his breath.
Often in such cases, it is advised to spray the spray on the inner surface of the cheek. However, this method cannot fully guarantee that the child will not take a breath at the time of spraying.
Therefore, traditionally for medicines in spray form, the instructions for use Maxicold Lor recommends starting to use the drug not earlier than 3 years of age of the child.
The aerosol spraying algorithm for children is similar to that described above for adults. Dosage can be reduced depending on age to 1-2 clicks at a time.
Use during pregnancy and lactation
In the instructions for use of Maxicold Lor, the manufacturer notes that there is no data on the negative effect of the drug on the fetus or infant. On the other hand, no studies have been conducted on whether the substances contained in the spray penetrate through the placenta or into breast milk. The degree of absorption of the drug has not been studied.
The manufacturer advises to consult with your doctor about the need to use Maxicold Lor during pregnancy and lactation. Nevertheless, due to the good “adhesion” to the mucosa and microscopic absorption, sprays based on hexetidine and glycerol are considered one of the safest drugs for use during pregnancy and lactation.
