Therapeutic properties
The drug Coldact Flu Plus has anti-inflammatory, antipyretic, decongestant and analgesic effects. The therapeutic effect is due to the pharmacological properties of the following active components:
Chlorphenamine is a blocker of histamine H1 receptors from the group of alkylamines with anti-allergic (antihistamine) properties. Eliminates swelling of the mucous membranes, rhinorrhea, lacrimation and other allergic symptoms;
Paracetamol is an antipyretic analgesic from the group of anilides that relieves pain. It inhibits the production of inflammatory mediators, due to which the symptoms of hyperthermia and pain are eliminated;
Phenylephrine is an anti-congestive agent from the group of alpha-adrenomimetics, which has a vasoconstrictive effect on the vessels in the nasopharynx. Reduces the permeability of the capillary walls, thereby eliminating hyperemia and swelling in the nasal canals.
When using the capsules, the symptoms of allergies, nasal congestion, low-grade fever and other manifestations of acute respiratory infections are quickly eliminated. Combined medication facilitates the course of not only colds, but also sinusitis.
Indications for use
Antipyretic analgesic and antiallergic effects are used in the symptomatic treatment of infectious inflammation of the upper respiratory tract. Indications for the appointment of a combined remedy are:
low-grade fever;
viral nasopharyngitis;
nasal congestion;
body aches;
cold;
headache;
myalgia;
rhinorrhea;
febrile syndrome;
sinusitis.
Anti-congestive capsules reduce swelling in the nasal cavity, due to which the outflow of viscous secretion from the sinuses is normalized. In this regard, Coldact Flu Plus is recommended to be used for the prevention of sinusitis and sphenoiditis in infectious lesions of the nasopharynx.
Dosage regimen
Capsules should be taken orally after a meal. The duration of treatment and dosage depend on the severity of symptoms of acute respiratory infections. Adults and children from 12 years of age are prescribed 1 capsule 2 times a day. It is recommended to drink them with still water. The course of therapy should not exceed 5-7 days. In the absence of a therapeutic effect, it is necessary to consult an otolaryngologist.
The combined drug is not used in the treatment of patients under 12 years of age. Paracetamol in capsules at high doses negatively affects the functioning of the hepatobiliary system. Therefore, they are not prescribed to persons weighing up to 40 kg.
Precautionary measures
According to the instructions for use, the components of Coldact Flu Plus are more metabolized by hepatic enzymes. In case of damage to the parenchymal tissue and violation of the inactivating function of the liver, the daily dose of the combined preparation should be reduced to 1 capsule.
With caution, capsules should be taken for people with hypertension, prostatic hyperplasia, intracranial hypertension and angle-closure glaucoma. Phenylephrine has a vasoconstrictive effect on blood vessels, which can lead to exacerbation of the symptoms of the above diseases.
If a cold remedy is used for more than 7 consecutive days, it is necessary to monitor hemodynamic parameters of blood and glomerular filtration rate from time to time. Failure to comply with these rules is fraught with the development of renal failure, as well as impaired bone marrow function.
Gestation and breastfeeding
The use of antipyretics during gestation is contraindicated. Its active components, in particular paracetamol, adversely affect the fetal development. When using capsules in the 1st and 2nd trimester of pregnancy, the risk of developing cryptorchidism in boys increases. In the case of using a cold medicine during lactation, it is advisable to transfer the infant to feeding with mixtures.
Alcohol compatibility
Coldact Flu Plus is not combined with alcohol because of the possible increase in the hepatotoxic effect of its active components. The use of alcohol-containing drinks during treatment is fraught with severe liver damage.
Drug Interactions
The use of a cold medicine potentiates the therapeutic effects of ethanol-containing drugs, MAO inhibitors, anti-allergic and sedative medications. Due to a possible violation of intestinal motility, increased blood pressure, urinary retention and inhibition of the functions of the salivary glands, it is undesirable to combine Coldt Flu Plus with:
antipsychotics;
antiparkinsonian drugs;
glucocorticosteroids;
phenothiazine derivatives;
uricosuric drugs.
Tricyclics potentiate the vasoconstrictor activity of phenylephrine, resulting in ventricular arrhythmia. Therefore, before using any medications, it is advisable to consult a doctor.
Overdose
Acceptance of more than 10 capsules of Coldact Flu Plus leads to an overdose of paracetamol, phenylephrine and chlorphenamine, the manifestations of which are:
sleep disturbance;
arrhythmia;
dizziness;
increased sweating;
depression of the central nervous system;
intestinal atony;
decrease in blood pressure;
mydriasis;
cramps
tremor;
anxiety;
irritability;
hyperthermia;
dry mouth
impaired consciousness;
drowsiness.
With the simultaneous use of alcohol-containing drugs or drinks, damage to the parenchyma is observed, which is fraught with the development of hepatic encephalopathy and even death. Also, patients are diagnosed with cardiological complications - hypertensive crisis, tachycardia, decreased heart rate, etc.
Symptomatic treatment of overdose involves washing the intestines and taking activated charcoal. The cytostatic effects are stopped by parenteral administration of cysteamine or oral administration of methionine.
Side effect
In 95% of cases, Coldact Flu Plus is well tolerated by patients of all age groups. Undesirable effects occur if the dosage is exceeded or capsules are used for a long time. Often patients complain of:
heartburn;
dry mouth
decreased appetite;
stool disorders;
epigastric pain;
flatulence;
hemolytic anemia;
headache;
confusion of consciousness;
disorientation;
noise in ears;
psychomotor agitation;
cramps
nettle fever;
violation of accommodation;
reflex bradycardia;
bronchospasm.
With renal dysfunction, aseptic pyuria, difficulty urinating and hepatic colic are noted. Patients with cardiovascular disease may complain of increased blood pressure, shortness of breath, chest pain, and arrhythmia. In case of hypersensitivity to active substances, toxic epidermal necrolysis, erythema multiforme and skin itching are diagnosed.
Contraindications
The combined drug is not used for drug allergies to active and inactive components. Absolute contraindications to the appointment of capsules are:
angle-closure glaucoma;
thyrotoxicosis;
stomach ulcer;
inflammation of the bladder;
renal failure;
atherosclerosis;
diabetes;
Gilbert's syndrome;
bronchial asthma;
hypertonic disease.
Due to the moderate sedative effect of Coldact Flu Plus, one should refrain from driving a car and working with hazardous equipment.
