Release form and composition

Dosage form - eye drops: colorless or light brownish viscous liquid, transparent or opalescent (5 ml in a bottle with a Drop Tainer dropper, 1 bottle in a cardboard box).
Composition of 1 ml solution:
    active substance: tobramycin - 3 mg;
    auxiliary components: mannitol, trometamol, xanthan gum, boric acid, polysorbate-80, benzododecinium bromide, sulfuric acid and (or) sodium hydroxide, purified water.

Pharmacodynamics

The active ingredient of the drug is tobramycin, a broad-spectrum antibiotic belonging to the aminoglycoside group. It has a bactericidal effect, interferes with protein synthesis, violates the permeability of the cytoplasmic membrane of a microbial cell.

Pharmacokinetics

Systemic absorption of the drug when applied topically is low.

Indications for use

According to the instructions, Tobrex 2X is indicated for the prevention of postoperative infections, as well as for the treatment of the following infectious diseases of the eye and its appendages:
    conjunctivitis;
    blepharitis;
    keratoconjunctivitis;
    blepharoconjunctivitis;
    iridocyclitis;
    keratitis.

Contraindications

Tobrex 2X is contraindicated in patients with increased sensitivity to its components.


Instructions for use: method and dosage

Eye drops Tobrex 2X are applied topically, by instilling 1 drop into the conjunctival sac 2 times a day with an interval of 12 hours. The duration of treatment is 7 days.
In case of an acute inflammatory process on the first day of the course, the drug is used 1 drop 4 times a day, starting from day 2 - 2 times a day.
Before use, it is recommended to turn the tightly closed bottle over and shake once.
Tobrex 2X for children over 1 year old is prescribed in the same doses as for adults.

Side effects

The following undesirable effects may develop: allergic reaction (itching, conjunctival hyperemia, lacrimation), erythema and swelling of the eyelids, conjunctival edema, discomfort or foreign body sensation in the eye, burning in the eye, blepharitis, keratitis, eye pain, chemosis, crystal deposition, ulceration of the cornea.

Overdose

Due to the low systemic absorption of the drug when applied topically, overdose is unlikely.

Special instructions

Long-term drug therapy can lead to the growth of refractory microorganisms (including fungi). If superinfection occurs, appropriate therapy is recommended.
The preservative (benzododecinium bromide) contained in the preparation can be absorbed by contact lenses, and therefore, they should be removed before instillation and not worn within 15 minutes after it.
After each use of drops, the bottle must be closed.

Influence on the ability to drive vehicles and complex mechanisms

There is no information on the effect of Tobrex 2X on the ability to drive vehicles and other complex mechanisms that require the speed of psychomotor reactions.
