Composition and form of release
Signicef 0.5% eye drops have the appearance of a clear solution with a light yellow color. The main substance in the composition that endows the drug with medicinal properties is levofloxacin in the form of a hemihydrate. Additionally, the solution includes:
water for injections;
benzalkonium chloride;

The ophthalmic agent is produced in 5 ml plastic dropper bottles.
Pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics
Drops in the eyes of Signicef belong to antibacterial drugs of the fluoroquinolone group, which are used only locally. The active substance blocks the basic vital processes of the pathogens. It suppresses the activity of DNA gyrase, disrupts the process of transformation and replication of bacterial RNA. Levofloxacin has a more destructive effect on the flora, which is in the division phase.
The drug is active against many types of pathogenic and opportunistic bacteria, such as:
proteas;
salmonella;
staphylococci;
klebsiella;
streptococci;
campylobacter;
chlamydia;
Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Escherichia coli;
shigella.
After instillation, levofloxacin accumulates in the tear film. Its level quickly reaches its maximum concentration, which is detrimental to pathogens of eye diseases and lasts for at least 5 hours. The average level of the active substance in the blood is observed after 1 hour, the maximum is 4 days after application for 2 days every 2 hours.

I was prescribed Signicef after laser vision correction for myopia. After the operation, there were unpleasant sensations in the eyes, sometimes pain appeared. After the instillation, it immediately became easier. The pain disappeared in about 5 minutes. There were no complications after the correction, I can't say for sure whether the drug helped me or just the operation was successful.

My little son was prescribed drops for conjunctivitis. He got sand in his eyes in the kindergarten, and in the morning his eyes turned red and hurt. Drops were instilled for 4 days, 1 drop each. The conjunctivitis was gone, there were no side effects, as well as discomfort. Therefore, we were satisfied with the tool.

Last year, my friends went to the lake. The next day, my eyes were very inflamed, either I scratched them with dirty hands or maybe the water was dirty, I don't even know what caused the inflammation. As soon as I arrived home I immediately went to the ophthalmologist, he prescribed Signicef for me. The drops, of course, are effective, they helped quickly. But there is one drawback - personally, it was inconvenient for me to bury them every 2 hours, since I am a seller and sometimes there was no time to be distracted. Although it was necessary to use it only in the first 2 days, it was still inconvenient.

I was prescribed Signicef drops by the ophthalmologist when I had bacterial conjunctivitis. At first, the eyes just turned red, and after a day, they began to itch and hurt. In the morning it was hard to open my eyes, because they were stuck together with some kind of yellow liquid. I dripped the drug for 5 days, my eyes stopped hurting on the second day. I did not notice any side effects when the drops were dripping, there were no discomfort.
