Cromoglycic acid (sodium cromoglycate) is an active ingredient in the composition, which gives the drug a therapeutic effect. 1 drop of solution accounts for 0.8 mg of the active ingredient.
Lecrolyn eye drops also contain auxiliary ingredients:
boric acid;
glycerol;
benzalkonium chloride;
disodium edetate;
polyvinyl alcohol;
purified water.
Release form
Lecrolyn eye drops are a clear medicinal solution that has a pale yellow or whitish tint.
An ophthalmic agent is produced in two forms:
10 ml polyethylene bottles with a dropper stopper (1 bottle per package);
mini tubes-droppers of 0.25 ml (pack of 30).
Detailed instructions for use are attached to the cardboard box.
Pharmachologic effect
Lecrolyn drops belong to the group of antiallergic drugs. The substances that make up the drug stabilize the membrane membranes of mast cells - special cells involved in the formation of immunity. They are found around the vessels, lymph nodes, under the epidermis.
Thus, the drops reduce the permeability of the eye vessels, thereby protecting the mast cells from the effects of allergens. As a result, allergic reactions such as itching, burning, watery eyes, redness, stinging, swelling are eliminated. The therapeutic effect is achieved within 5-7 days from the start of treatment.
Pharmacokinetics
systemic absorption is negligible;
systemic bioavailability - less than 0.2%;
the half-life is 5-10 minutes.
The antihistaminic properties of cromoglycic acid are especially pronounced during the prophylaxis period. Therefore, it is advisable to use the remedy in the season when natural allergens are especially active (in spring, summer).

Reviews

I don't like spring, because I have seasonal allergies. Eyes are especially sensitive to spring flowering. Lachrymation, pain, redness are signs with which I am constantly fighting with varying degrees of success. But this year she decided not to self-medicate and turned to an ophthalmologist. Indeed, she was diagnosed with allergic conjunctivitis. Prescribed drops Lecrolyn. How did I live without them before ?! After 5 days, she began to notice improvements, and after a week, all symptoms disappeared. I am very happy, I will continue to use this drug!

Lacrimation suddenly appeared, I turned to an ophthalmologist. He said that this is a sign of a banal allergy (although I never had one). I prescribed these drops. I want to immediately note the advantages of the product - composition, low price, efficiency, availability. The doctor warned that the drug would not work immediately, but after a week. And so it happened. To prevent allergies from being caught by surprise, it was recommended to drip drops for prevention. My reviews are only positive. Would recommend to anyone with the same eye problems.

Lecrolyn is the best way to prevent allergic conjunctivitis. I used to start treatment when the first signs of allergy appeared (itching, burning, redness). The pharmacy was advised to try to use the remedy for prophylactic purposes. For the second year (in early spring) seasonal allergies do not bother me. I begin to drip drops in early March. I want to note that even with prolonged use, no adverse reactions develop. I tolerate the drug very well! The bonus is an acceptable price for the medicine.

My son (6 years old) is allergic to pollen, so there is an aggravation every spring. The eyes were especially troubling this spring. We went to the children's clinic, where the doctor prescribed Lecrolyn drops. The result did not come immediately, but after about a week. The effect is very pleasing. The eyes stopped reddening and watering. Now we walk in any weather and are not afraid that edema will appear.
