Release form and composition
The active ingredient in the composition of the drug is a 1% solution of methylethylpyridinol hydrochloride. The benefits of Emoxipin are due to this active substance. The rest of the organic and inorganic constituents are auxiliary. They are not therapeutic.
The drug has no pronounced odor and color. It is produced in two dosage forms - injection and eye drops. The first is produced with different percentages. One percent contains methylethylpyridinol hydrochloride - 10 mg, three percent - 30 mg.
Emoxipin eye drops are a 1% solution in 5 ml vials.
Pharmacological properties
The drug for the eyes is a powerful antioxidant, neuroprotector, antihypoxant and antiplatelet agent. These qualities have a complex effect on all structures of the organ of vision. Experts highlight the beneficial properties of eye drops:
Oxygen starvation of the eye apparatus is prevented. This occurs due to the saturation of blood with oxygen and the activation of microcirculation.
The integrity of important molecules is preserved by stopping oxidative reactions and neutralizing free radicals.
Strength, smoothness and elasticity of the vascular walls gives the vasoprotective effect of the drug. At the same time, vascular permeability decreases.
The smooth surface of the vessels does not allow the cellular elements of the blood to be fixed on their walls. As a result, blood viscosity decreases and the risk of hemorrhage decreases.
The inflammatory process is reduced due to the blocking of the biosynthesis of prostaglandins and leukotrienes by the active substances of the drug.
Emoxipin has a vasodilating effect. Therefore, the medication will be effective in cardiovascular pathologies.
In addition, Emoxipin drops have a low level of toxicity, but at the same time they exhibit high biological activity.
Indications for use
The drug is used for common ophthalmic problems. Main indications for use:
hemorrhage that occurs in the inner shell of the eyeball;
complication of diabetes mellitus - diabetic retinopathy, which affects the vessels of the eyes;
complicated myopia;
retinal vascular thrombosis;
cornea burns;
dystrophic changes in the retina;
cataract, glaucoma.
The drug is often prescribed for people who use contact lenses on a regular basis. Drops protect the vessels of the eyes and prevent disturbance of the ocular circulation. They are also used to shorten the rehabilitation period after ophthalmic surgery.
Another purpose is to protect the eyes from exposure to high-intensity light sources (high-frequency laser, bright sun). It is from their negative influence that the retina suffers, its depletion and structural changes occur. The risk of detachment increases.
The solution for injection is also used for the treatment of neurological and cardiological pathologies: heart attack, stroke, angina pectoris, traumatic brain injury, etc. Why Emoxipin is prescribed in injections, the attending physician must answer.
Contraindications to use
The drug has low toxicity, so there are practically no contraindications for use. The medication should be discarded by pregnant and lactating women. Sensitivity to any component of the medication is another contraindication.
In rare cases, childhood is a contraindication. The feasibility of using the drops for children is assessed by an ophthalmologist.
Instructions for use
According to the instructions, eye drops are used 2-3 times a day. In each conjunctivitis sac, 1-2 are instilled. The duration of therapy is determined by the ophthalmologist. Usually, the course of treatment with Emoxipin does not exceed 30 days. In severe cases and provided that the drug is well tolerated, an increase up to 3 months is allowed.

Possible side effects
Against the background of the use of Emoxipin drops, local side effects may occur:

tingling, stinging, burning in the eyes;

Basically, side effects appear when the recommended dosage indicated in the instructions for use of the medication is not observed.
Overdose, interaction with other drugs
Information and research results confirming an overdose of Emoxipin are absent.
Emoxipin eye drops are incompatible with other medicines. It is not recommended to use them simultaneously with other medicinal solutions, therefore, Emoxipin eye drops should be instilled into the conjunctivitis sac 20-30 minutes before or after using other similar agents.

Reviews
Varvara Petrovna, 67 years old
The doctor prescribed Emoxipin drops when the cataract had just begun to appear. Unfortunately, it was not possible to stop the development of the disease. They said that it was necessary to replace the lens with an artificial one. I suffer from diabetes, so after the operation there was a complication, which is why Emoxipin was given again in the hospital. That's when I felt that the medicine was helping. Redness and unpleasant sensation in the eyes are gone. After discharge, she was treated for another 2 weeks. Now everything is fine, I see well.

I am working on a sawmill, a small chip got into my eye. At first I didn't pay attention to discomfort. In the morning, the eye swollen all over and turned red. I went to the doctor. Conducted a mini-operation, pulled out a chip. In the injured eye, it was recommended to drip drops of Emoxipin 3 times a day. The redness decreased after the first use, and after a week all signs of injury disappeared. My reviews on the drug are only good.
Dmitry Sergeevich, 40 years old, ophthalmologist
I prescribe Emoxipin to my patients after surgical procedures. The drug has a whole range of useful properties: it improves local blood flow, accelerates regeneration, and prevents the formation of blood clots. Therefore, recovery after surgery is faster and without complications. Particularly pleasing is the price-quality ratio, because many patients do not have the means to buy more expensive drugs.
