Release form and composition

The dosage form of Dancil's release is ear and eye drops: light yellowish, transparent (5 ml each in plastic dropper bottles with a screw cap, or in plastic bottles sealed with a dropper stopper; in a cardboard box 1 bottle or dropper bottle).
Composition of 1 ml drops:
    active substance: ofloxacin - 3 mg;
    auxiliary components: benzalkonium chloride - 0.1 mg; sodium chloride - 8 mg; edetate disodium - 1 mg; hypromellose - 2 mg; sodium hydroxide - in sufficient quantity; hydrochloric acid - in sufficient quantity; water for injection - up to 1 ml.

Indications for use

Organs of vision

Dancil is prescribed for the treatment of infectious diseases of the accessory apparatus of the eye and the anterior segment of the eye, which are caused by microorganisms sensitive to the action of the active substance.
Also, the drug is used in ophthalmic surgery for prophylactic purposes.

Organs of hearing

    chronic suppurative otitis media (including with perforation of the tympanic membrane) caused by Staphylococcus aureus, Proteus mirabilis or Pseudomonas aeruginosa;
    otitis externa caused by Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus;
    acute otitis media with an inserted tympanostomy tube caused by Moraxella catarrhalis, Haemophilus influenzae, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Staphylococcus aureus.

Contraindications

    non-bacterial diseases of the accessory apparatus of the eye, posterior and anterior segments of the eye;
    non-bacterial otitis media;
    age up to 1 year;
    pregnancy and lactation;
    individual intolerance to the components of the drug, including the presence of hypersensitivity to other quinolone derivatives.

Method of administration and dosage

The recommended single dose is 1-2 drops (in the affected eye / eyes).
In the treatment of bacterial corneal ulcers, during the first 2 days of therapy, the drug is used every 30 minutes during wakefulness, then 4 and 6 hours after falling asleep. In the next 4-6 days, they switch to the use of Dancil only during the waking period (every hour), after which, for three days or until a clinical cure is achieved, the frequency of use is reduced to 4 times a day.
In the treatment of diseases such as conjunctivitis, blepharitis, keratoconjunctivitis, keratitis, meibomitis, dacryocystitis, as well as for prophylactic purposes in ophthalmosurgery after eye injuries and surgical operations, Dancil is usually used only during wakefulness: during the first 2 days - every 2-4 hours , then 4 times a day (no longer than 5 days).

Recommended dosage regimen for adults and children over 12 years old:
    otitis externa: 2 times a day, 10 drops into the affected ear for 10 days;
    chronic suppurative otitis media with chronic perforation of the tympanic membrane: 2 times a day, 10 drops in the affected ear for 14 days;
    otitis media with a tympanostomy tube installed: 2 times a day, 5 drops into the affected ear for 10 days.
For children 1–11 years old, the doctor determines the scheme for using Dancil individually. Therapy should be carried out under his supervision.
The recommended dose for the treatment of otitis externa and acute otitis media with an installed tympanostomy tube is 3 times a day, 5 drops in the affected ear for 10 days. Before instillation, you need to warm the bottle in your hand for 1–2 minutes, which will help to avoid the development of dizziness (probably in the case of using a cold solution).
Instillation should be performed with the patient lying on his side. It is possible to change the position of the body no earlier than 5 minutes after the end of the procedure, which will facilitate the passage of the solution through the external auditory canal. If it is necessary to instill in the other ear, proceed in the same way.

Side effects

When using Dancil, the following disorders may develop: transient discomfort / burning in the eye after the procedure, conjunctival hyperemia, contact conjunctivitis, keratitis, foreign body sensation in the eye, blurred vision, swelling of the periorbital region or face, eye pain, photophobia, itching sensation, watery eyes and a feeling of dryness of the eye.
In very rare cases, the use of the drug leads to stupor, dizziness, nausea and headache. There is also evidence of rare cases of hemorrhagic conjunctivitis with eyelid edema.

Organs of hearing

In the treatment of otitis externa in 16.8% of cases, local reactions develop (allergic reactions, hyperemia and mild soreness of the eardrum).
In 1% of patients, there was the appearance of pain in the ear, a sensation of ringing in the ears, transient hearing loss, the development of otitis media and external otitis media.

Special instructions

It must be taken into account that prolonged therapy with Dancil can lead to the growth of flora insensitive to it. Therefore, in cases where there is no clinical improvement or worsening of the condition during the standard treatment period, therapy should be canceled.
You should not wear soft contact lenses during the period of drug treatment; hard contact lenses must be removed before instillation; they can be reinstalled 20 minutes after instillation.
Dancil should not be injected subconjunctivally or into the anterior chamber of the eye.
Due to the possible development of photophobia, it is recommended to avoid prolonged exposure to bright light and wear sunglasses during therapy.

Drug interactions

There are no data on the interaction of Dancil with other drugs / substances.

The shelf life is 3 years.
