In addition to the main mechanism of action in the human body, ticagrelor also has an auxiliary one. In organs that do not have enough oxygen, as well as in tissues that have damage of a different nature, adenosine is formed through the release from adenosine diphosphate and adenosine triphosphate. It has properties such as relaxation of the muscles of the blood vessels, slowing down the destruction of myocardial cells. Thanks to the effects of ticagrelor, the content of adenosine in the human body increases and its therapeutic effect is prolonged.
The drug has a high bioavailability. The targeted action begins already half an hour after administration. Brilinta reaches its maximum content in the human body within a maximum of four hours from the moment of application.
