Any treatment regimen of the fungus should include taking tablets antimycotic drugs. They fight the pathogen inside the body, destroy the infection that has entered the bloodstream, and prevent a relapse of the disease after the end of the course of treatment. The most popular antimycotic medicine in pills is Termicon. It copes with many types of pathogenic microflora and is combined with almost all drugs for external use. However, before starting to use it, you should consult a doctor and read the instructions.

Description of the active substance

Termicon tablets are based on terbinafine. This substance is part of many antifungal agents. The popularity of this active component is due to the fact that it helps to cope with almost all known types of mycosis. Terbinafin is active in relation to:
    trihofitonam;
    epidermofitonam;
    microsporum;
    Malacesia furfur;
    yeast fungi of the genus Candida.
The action of the substance is based on the suppression of the reproduction of squalene epoxidase. It is an enzyme that triggers the biosynthesis of ergosterol, a cholesterol-like substance. It is the basis of the cell membranes of the fungus. Without it, the formation of new cells and the functioning of existing ones is impossible (the membrane loses its barrier properties). Under the negative influence of terbinafine, the infection quickly collapses and dies.

Features of the drug

Termicon is produced by the Russian company Pharmstandard-Tomskhimpharm. It comes in the form of cream, spray for external use and tablets for oral administration. The latter form of the drug is often used in the complex treatment of a fungus.
The tablets are round, white in color, each containing 250 mg of active ingredient. In pharmacies, Termicon is sold in carton white-green packaging, which encloses instructions for use. In total in a pack there can be 14 or 28 tablets (2-4 blisters of 7 pieces).

Indications for use

According to the instructions, Termicon spray and cream are used for the prevention and treatment of fungus on the skin (pityriasis versicolor, dermatophytosis, candidal diaper rash). Inside the drug is taken in more difficult cases:
    when running nail fungus;
    in severe forms of infections of the skin or mucous membranes, when local means are not enough to cure.

Contraindications

Termicon can not be taken with individual intolerance to the composition of the drug (this applies to any form of release). Other possible contraindications:
    age up to three years or weight less than 20 kg;
    lactation period (Termicon is contained in a small concentration in breast milk).
For the treatment of pregnant women, this antifungal agent is used very rarely, and then only when absolutely necessary. No negative effect on the fetus was found on the terbinafine, but due to the lack of clinical experience, doctors prefer not to risk it.
In the presence of the following pathologies, Termicon is taken with caution:
    renal / liver functional impairment (metabolism and excretion of terbinafine slows down, dose adjustment is required);
    malignant tumors;
    psoriasis, systemic lupus erythematosus (possibly exacerbation);
    pathological craving for alcohol (alcohol reduces the effectiveness of Termicon);
    impaired bone marrow activity;
    diseases of the vascular system leading to narrowing of the lumen
Important!
Before using the medication, be sure to tell the doctor about your chronic diseases and other medications taken. This will allow us to objectively assess the possibility of using Termicon and select the appropriate dosage.

Side effects of Termicon

Negative effects when taking terbinafine are rare. They are mainly due to allergies to the composition of Termicon or other features of the patient.
Possible side effects:
    headache, dizziness;
    decrease in mood, a depressive state, increase in anxiety;
    changes in taste;
    dyspeptic symptoms (nausea, flatulence, loss of appetite, diarrhea);
    skin rashes;
    pains in joints and muscles.
These symptoms require a visit to the doctor for consultation. With timely treatment in a medical institution may not have to interrupt the course of treatment. Sometimes it is enough for the patient to pick up an adequate replacement for the medicine or just wait until the manifestations of individual intolerance to the drug disappear on their own.
Of particular concern are such phenomena:
    yellowness of the sclera and skin;
    bleached feces;
    dark urine;
    severe weakness;
    vomiting, abdominal pain.
In this case, you must stop drinking the pills and contact your doctor.

Warnings to patients

When ingested, terbinafine may increase the skin's sensitivity to UV rays, so you should not tan during the course of treatment. While in the sun, protective creams with a maximum SPF are required.
Before starting therapy and after three months of taking the pills, it is recommended to take tests to check the condition of the liver. If the liver tests are elevated, the course of terbinafine is canceled. The same applies to changes in blood composition. If the results of the analysis show a sharp decrease in the number of blood cells (granulocytes, platelets), you will have to change Termicon.
The described complications are found only in individuals predisposed to them, and with a long course of treatment (more than 3 months).
In women taking oral contraceptives, while taking Termicon, the menstrual cycle may be disturbed.
The combination of terbinafine and ethanol is detrimental to the body, so drinking alcohol while taking the medication is not allowed.

Pharmacokinetics Information

The active substance from the pill is absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract by 70-80%, but the bioavailability of the first passage through the liver is about 40%. The maximum concentration of terbinafine is achieved within two hours after a single dose. The active component quickly accumulates in the epidermal tissues and sebaceous glands. In the nails, it is found after two weeks of admission. In the blood, the composition of Termicon is completely bound to plasma proteins, therefore it is not eliminated during dialysis.

Acceptance of Termicon pills with foot fungus

With the fungus between the fingers and on the soles of the feet, tablets are taken for 2 weeks, one per day. The duration of the course of treatment is adjusted by the doctor based on the results of the tests and in the presence of diseases of the internal organs.
Simultaneously with taking pills, a cream or spray is applied daily to the feet. Any antimycotic drug of local action increases the effectiveness of therapy. It is recommended to apply external means even after completion of treatment. Periodic treatment of the feet will protect against recurrence of mycosis.
14 days after the beginning and at the end of the course of treatment of the fungus, it is recommended to treat all the shoes with fungicidal solutions. It is also important to change socks, stockings, pantyhose and wipe your feet daily to avoid reinfection.

Taking Termicon tablets for nail fungus

Termicon from nail fungus taken at a dosage of 250 mg once a day. It is better to drink pills after meals to reduce their effect on the digestive tract. The course of treatment depends on the size of the lesion area, the age and other features of the patient.
Important!
If you take the pill irregularly or stop the treatment prematurely, relapse will begin. In addition, the pathogen will acquire resistance to Termicon, which will reduce the effectiveness of the Termicon and delay the process of therapy.
In young people, nails grow faster, so treatment usually does not exceed 2-3 months. Longer drink pills have the following categories of patients:
    the elderly;
    patients with poor circulation in the limbs;
    to persons whose keratin plates grow for a long time.
If the toenail is affected, then a longer treatment is required - up to six months.

Terbinafine Pulse Therapy

Pulse therapy allows reducing the duration of the fight against fungus and avoiding many side effects. Today, more and more doctors use this method. Its essence is that the medicine is taken intermittently: for seven days the patient drinks a double dose of tablets (500 mg), then takes a break for 21 days. The cycle is repeated three or four times.
A long break between taking the pills allows the liver and gastrointestinal tract to fully recover. The patient himself gets rid of the constant use of Termicon, which is psychologically depressing, makes you feel sick.
This method has practically no disadvantages; therefore, it is now considered the most popular, but only a doctor chooses a suitable pulse therapy scheme.

The effectiveness of a systemic approach to the treatment of fungus

It has been proven that the inclusion of oral medications in the treatment regimen of skin and nail fungus increases the percentage of recovery by 3 times compared with the use of external agents alone. This is the so-called etioptoropny (aimed at the very cause of the disease) or a systematic approach to treatment, which all dermatologists follow today.
If you do not affect the fungus from the inside and outside, it will definitely appear again. Therefore, there are many people who are convinced that mycoses are practically incurable. This is not true. Simply, many are limited to local effects on the fungus, which does not always lead to the desired result.
Local fungicidal agents penetrate the skin well and accumulate in it, but in the deeper layers they no longer work. Visually, it is difficult to assess the degree of damage and be 100% sure that there will be enough creams and ointments for treatment.
There are patients who are categorically against taking any pills. They would not agree to drink medicines that “plant the liver”, so they suffer from nail fungus for years, although it can be completely cured in a month without much effort.
Of course, drinking thoughtlessly everything is also impossible. The correct approach to treatment is to accurately identify the causative agent by taking tests and using only those tablets that the doctor prescribed based on the results of laboratory diagnostics and anamnesis.

What do the doctors say

Practicing dermatologists believe that Termicon is an excellent substitute for expensive Lamisil. It is tolerated not worse and gives the same therapeutic effect. However, this drug in tablets is assigned infrequently. It is relevant only if the use of local funds did not give positive results.
For those who decide to drink Termicon, doctors give one piece of advice - be sure to take hepatoprotective drugs along with pills - Tykveol, Heptral, Holiver, milk thistle infusion. This will help protect the body from the negative effects of Termicon.

Personal reviews of the drug

Michael, 42 years old.
    I suffer from diabetes because the body is weak. When I noticed that it was itching between my fingers, I went to the doctor. After inspection, it turned out that the fungus is also on the legs, they simply did not itch due to a decrease in sensitivity. The doctor offered a choice of several drugs, one of them - Termicon. I took it for two months, during this time everything went away. There were no side effects. So the drug is good, I recommend.
Anna, 30 years old.
    They say that the Israeli counterpart is better than the Russian. I first bought one pack, but then there were problems with finances, which is why I was treated with a Termicon. Personally, I did not notice the difference between the pills. The only drawback is the need to purchase additional antimycotics. I was discharged spray and varnish for processing the nail plate.
