infections of the abdominal organs;
exacerbation of chronic bronchitis;
community-acquired pneumonia;
inflammation of the prostate gland;
acute sinusitis;
urinary tract infections uncomplicated;
bacteremia / septicemia (associated with the indications given in the description);
urinary tract infections complicated (including pyelonephritis);
infectious pathology of soft tissues and skin.
pharmachologic effect
An antibiotic belonging to the fluoroquinolone group. It has a wide range of actions. Active ingredient - levorotatory active isomer ofloxacin - levofloxacin hemihydrate. Thanks to the levorotatory formula, it has a higher efficacy than ofloxacin.
The mechanism of action is bactericidal: a blockade of DNA gyrase of the microbial cell, interference with the cleavage of gaps in the bacteria's de-disiribune kleinic acids and disruption of the DNA supercoiling process. Due to this, irreversible structural changes in the membranes, cytoplasm and cell wall occur in the microbial cell.
Instructions for use
According to the instructions for use Levofloxacin is ingested 1 or 2 times a day. Tablets do not chew and drink enough liquid (0.5 to 1 cup), can be taken before meals or between meals. Doses are determined by the nature and severity of the infection, as well as the sensitivity of the suspected pathogen.
The average dosage of Levofloxacin for adults:
sinusitis: 500 mg 1 time per day - 10-14 days;
prostatitis: 500 mg - 1 time per day - 28 days;
