Composition and release form

Dazolic produced in the form of tablets, film-coated: almost white or white, biconvex, round, with a risk on one side; on the break - the core is almost white or white, surrounded by a shell (10 pieces in blisters, 1 or 5 blisters in a cardboard box).
    The main active ingredient of the drug Dazolic is ornidazole, it contains 500 mg in 1 tablet.

Clinico-pharmacological group: antiprotozoal drug with antibacterial activity.

Indications for use

    Amoebic dysentery and extraintestinal amebiasis;
    Trichomoniasis;
    Lambliosis

pharmachologic effect

The active component of Dazolic - ornidazole - restores the 5-nitro groups of ornidazole by means of intracellular transport proteins of protozoa and anaerobic bacteria, which in turn leads to interaction with the DNA of microorganism cells, inhibiting the synthesis of their nucleic acids and the death of bacteria.

Instructions for use

According to the instructions for use tablets Dazolic intended for oral administration. Dazolic is taken after a meal, without chewing and crushing, washing the tablet with the required amount of liquid.
The daily dose of Dazolic and the duration of the course of therapy is determined by the doctor depending on the indications, the patient's body weight, his age, the individual characteristics of his body and many other factors.
    With giardiasis in adults and children weighing more than 35 kg - 1.5 g 1 time / day, children over 3 years old and with a body weight less than 35 kg - 40 mg / kg / day. Duration of treatment is 1-2 days.
    In amebic dysentery in adults and children with a body weight of more than 35 kg, 1.5 g 1 time / day, with a body weight more than 60 kg - 2 g / day. Children older than 3 years and with a body weight less than 35 kg daily dose set at the rate of 40 mg / kg body weight. The course of treatment is 3 days.
    In other forms of amebiasis, adults and children over 12 years old - 500 mg 2 times / day for 5-10 days. Children older than 3 years and with a body weight less than 35 kg - 25 mg / kg body weight once for 5-10 days.
    With trichomoniasis, adults are prescribed 1.5 g once or 1 g in combination with intravaginal administration of 500 mg (vaginal tablets) at night. You can carry out treatment for 5 days, prescribing 500 mg orally 2 times / day (morning and evening), also with the appointment of 1 vaginal tablet of 500 mg per night. Children dose set at the rate of 25 mg / kg body weight once.
    For the prevention of infections caused by anaerobic bacteria, appoint 0.5-1 g before surgery and 0.5 g 2 times / day after surgery for 3-5 days.
Drug therapy cannot last more than 10 days. If during this period the patient does not show any improvement or, on the contrary, the condition worsens, you should immediately consult a doctor to confirm the diagnosis and correct the treatment prescribed.

Contraindications

Do not use Dazolic in such cases:
    children's age up to 3 years (for this dosage form);
    hypersensitivity to the drug.
With caution should use the drug for diseases of the central nervous system (including epilepsy, multiple sclerosis), liver disease, alcoholism, during pregnancy and lactation.

Side effects of Dazolic

During therapy may develop the following side effects:
    On the part of the gastrointestinal tract - nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, increased levels of liver enzymes;

    Others (extremely rare) are depression, peripheral neuritis, leukopenia, an allergic rash or itching.
The use of drugs in high doses can lead to an overdose, the main symptoms of which are depression, convulsions and neuritis of peripheral nerves. Treatment of an overdose of Dazolic involves symptomatic therapy. In the event of a symptom such as convulsions, diazepam is prescribed.
