pharmachologic effect

The combined multivitamin preparation with micro and macro elements, contains a complex of 11 vitamins and 8 minerals, which are important factors of metabolic processes.
One red and one blue dragee contain vitamins and minerals in quantities that satisfy the daily needs of the body. For better absorption of the vitamin-mineral complex and preserve the activity of the main components, vitamins and minerals are divided into different colored pills. Vitamins are found in red pills, minerals - in blue pills.
Retinol (vitamin A) is involved in the synthesis of various substances (proteins, lipids, mucopolysaccharides) and ensures the normal function of the skin, mucous membranes, as well as the organ of vision.
Colecalciferol (vitamin D3) plays an important role in maintaining the balance of calcium and phosphorus in the body. With its lack of bone tissue, the calcium content decreases (osteoporosis).

Indications for Duovit

As a prophylactic agent in conditions accompanied by an increased need for vitamins and minerals:
- increased physical activity (including during the period of active sports);
- pregnancy;
- lactation period;
- with irregular, inadequate diet or monotonous diet.

Contraindications

- hypersensitivity to the drug.

Side effects

Allergic reactions are possible, including hypersensitivity reactions with an asthmatic component.

Overdose

Cases of overdose when taking the drug in the recommended doses are not marked.
With a significant excess of the recommended doses, cases of hypervitaminosis A and D are possible. The preparation contains glycerol, therefore overdose may cause headache and disorders of the gastrointestinal tract (including diarrhea, vomiting).

Possible yellow staining of urine is harmless and is due to the presence of riboflavin in the preparation.
Patients with diabetes should consider that 1 tablet contains 800 mg of sugar, and the daily dose of the drug contains 1.6 g of sugar.
Red and blue pills contain 331 mg of lactose, 1083 mg of sucrose, 270 mg of glucose, 237 mg of sorbitol, so the drug is not recommended for patients with congenital glucose intolerance and fructose intolerance, with malabsorption of glucose / galactose and sucrase / isomaltase deficiency.
Azo dyes E124 and E110 can cause hypersensitivity reactions with an asthmatic component.
Hypersensitivity reactions are also possible in patients with hypersensitivity to acetylsalicylic acid.
Red dragees contain polyol (mannitol), which in large doses can cause diarrhea.
It is not recommended to exceed the daily dose. In case of accidental use of the drug in a high dose, the patient should immediately consult a doctor.
It is not recommended to take Duovit together with other preparations containing vitamins and minerals.

Use during pregnancy and lactation

Drug interactions

Duovit contains iron and calcium and therefore slows down the absorption in the intestines of tetracycline antibiotics, as well as fluoroquinolone derivatives.
Vitamin C enhances the effect and side effects of sulfonamides (including the appearance of crystals in the urine).
Antacids containing aluminum, magnesium, calcium, as well as Kolestiramin reduce the absorption of iron. Therefore, if necessary, the simultaneous use of Duovit and antacid preparations, it is necessary to observe the interval between doses of at least 3 hours.
With the simultaneous use of diuretics from the thiazide group, the probability of hypercalcemia increases.

Mode of application

Duovit should be taken orally after a meal in the morning. Drops swallow whole, washed down with a small amount of water.
Adults and children over 10 years old are prescribed 2 tablets / day (1 tablet of red and 1 tablet of blue).
The course of taking the drug - 20 days. The course can be repeated after a break (1-3 months) or on the recommendation of a doctor.

Storage conditions and shelf life

Duovit should be kept out of the reach of children, protected from light, in a dry place at a temperature not exceeding 25 ° C. Shelf life - 3 years.
