Pharmacological properties

According to the instructions, Forlax belongs to the group of osmotic laxatives. It contains the active ingredient - macrogol. The long linear molecules of this polymer contain many hydrogen bonds, which can hold water molecules well. As a result of this interaction, the volume of intestinal contents increases. Forlax enhances intestinal contraction - peristalsis, reflexively irritating the intestinal wall with an increased volume. This stimulates the contents of the intestine to move faster, while useful vitamins and microelements are not lost from it, the water-electrolyte balance in the body does not suffer.
The use of Forlax softens stool in case of constipation, the laxative effect occurs after 24-48 hours. Due to the large size of the molecules, the drug is not absorbed into the bloodstream and is not converted in the body; it acts only in the intestinal lumen.
