Reduxin Met user manual

Overweight patients quite often resort to various unverified methods of losing weight, which by no means always help to get rid of hated kilograms. Today, there are many different drugs that help to deal with such problems, but you can take them strictly after consulting a nutritionist.
One of the commonly prescribed medications is Reduxin and Reduxin Met. They normalize metabolism, lipid processes, positively affect weight loss.

Reduxin or Reduxin Met: what is the difference?

Both developments are designed to treat varying degrees of obesity, when other methods of dealing with extra pounds do not give the desired result. This is one of the most powerful medications whose action is aimed at burning body fat. The release of both varieties of Reduxin is strictly prescription.
Despite the fact that medications have almost the same names, the composition of the active substances is different. Reduxin Met consists of two components of sibutramine and metformin, while the usual Reduxin contains only sibutramine. Both medications are anorexigenic, they reduce the psychological need of the body for food, contribute to accelerated fat burning and remove toxic substances from the body.
Metformin, which is part of Reduxin Met, enhances the effectiveness of sibutramine and expands the pharmacological properties of the drug. The drug helps to remove excess cholesterol from the body, reduces sugar levels.
Many obese patients are wondering: Reduxin or Reduxin Met, which is more effective? The last drug has more advantages, although it costs a little more. The process of fat burning against the background of its intake is much faster. Sibutramine supplemented with metformin is allowed for use in type 2 diabetes.

Pharmachologic effect

The medicine contains two separate drugs that act on the body in different directions. One of them is a hypoglycemic agent, and the second is intended directly for the treatment of obesity.

Metformin

A drug is used to lower blood sugar, but does not provoke the development of hypoglycemia. The tool significantly increases the sensitivity of tissues to insulin, and also helps cells properly utilize glucose. Metformin inhibits the absorption of carbohydrates throughout the intestine, reduces the amount of harmful blood cholesterol, has a beneficial effect on lipid metabolism, which can contribute to weight loss.

Sibutramine

A medication promotes the rapid onset of a feeling of fullness and reduces the body's need for additional food. As a result of the use of sibutramine, a noticeable weight loss occurs. Along with this, the laboratory properties of blood improve: cholesterol decreases, excess uric acid is excreted.

Microcrystalline cellulose

The drug contains a huge amount of dietary fiber and has a versatile effect on the body. First of all, it is an effective enterosorbent that helps to remove decay products, toxic substances, allergen poisons from the body, as well as various metabolites that provoke the occurrence of endogenous toxicosis. In addition, cellulose helps to strengthen the immune system, normalize cholesterol, improves digestive and metabolic processes.
Due to this combination of medications, Reduxin Met is today considered one of the most effective means of helping to combat excess kilograms. It is allowed to be used even by patients; a diagnosis of type 2 diabetes has been established.

Indications

Sibutramine is prescribed for alimentary (food) obesity in patients whose body mass index exceeds 30 kg / m². In the presence of other concomitant diseases, for example, diabetes mellitus or lipid metabolic disorders, Reduxin Met is recommended for use with a BMI of 27 kg / m² or more.

Instructions for use

Capsules and tablets are used orally. They are drunk at the same time in the morning with meals, while drinking plenty of fluids. The minimum dosage is 1 tablet of metformin (0.85 g) and 1 capsule of sibutramine (10 mg).
If the blood glucose exceeds the norm, then it is necessary to monitor changes in its concentration in the first weeks of admission. If normal values for 14 days are not achieved, then the dose of metformin is increased to 2 tablets. It is possible to reduce the severity of negative reactions from the gastrointestinal system if the daily dose is divided into two equal parts.
Weight control is carried out after 30 days. If during this time the weight loss is not fixed, or it does not exceed 2 kg, then Reduxin Met, 15 mg is prescribed. If for a course intake within 3 months the patient's weight has not decreased by 5 or more percent of the initial, then the therapy is stopped due to its inefficiency. Treatment is also canceled if, against the background of the use of the drug, a mass increase of 3 kg or more occurs.
The regimen of reduxin, as well as metformin, should be prescribed by a doctor. The course of therapy usually does not exceed 1 year. Taking a medication should be combined with a special diet and daily feasible physical activity.

Features

As a result of taking metformin, the risk of a dangerous condition such as lactic acidosis is significantly increased. This is a serious condition that develops due to cumulation of the active component, which even leads to death. Basically, lactic acidosis was diagnosed in patients with type 2 diabetes, insufficient renal function.
If surgery is planned, the intake of Reduxin Met should be canceled two days before the manipulation and can be started again no earlier than two days after if the renal system is functioning normally. Particular care must be taken when prescribing sibutramine to older people with impaired renal function.
In the early decades and months of taking Reduxin Met, patients should monitor the pressure and heart rate. If twice revealed an increase in one or the second indicator with a frequency of two weeks, treatment should be discontinued.
