Triazavirin is a synthetic analogue of the bases of purine nucleosides (guanine), which have a pronounced antiviral activity against RNA viruses. The mechanism of action of the drug is mainly due to the inhibition of the synthesis of viral RNA (ribonucleic acid) and the replication of genomic fragments.
After oral administration in the gastrointestinal tract, the active substance is rapidly absorbed. The maximum concentration (Cmax) of triazavirin in blood plasma is reached after 1-1.5 hours and averages 0.0048 mg / ml when taken at a dose of 250 mg 3 times a day.
T1 / 2 (half-life) is 1–1.5 hours. 15–45% of triazavirin is excreted unchanged through the kidneys. The estimated clearance is on average 246 ml / min.

In triazavirin reviews, patients give a positive assessment of the effectiveness of the drug in the treatment of influenza. They indicate that the use of an antiviral drug from the first days of the disease leads to complete recovery within 5 days and avoids the characteristic severe complications that often occur with influenza. In case of timely initiation of treatment, the disease proceeds with less severe symptoms and is not accompanied by very high body temperature. Capsules are advised to swallow whole, because their contents have a very bitter taste.
