During pregnancy

Instructions for use Isofra does not contain restrictions on the use of the drug during pregnancy. Doctors hold polar opinions. Some experts believe that it is better to prescribe a local antibiotic and stop the further development of the disease than strictly prohibit the use of Isofra during pregnancy. Others consider the appointment of a spray an unjustified risk due to the negative impact on the development of the fetus. Do not self-medicate, consult with your doctor about the drug.
Less consequences from taking Isofra during pregnancy in the 2nd trimester than in the 1st or 3rd trimester. How to treat a cold during pregnancy in the first trimester, read here.

When breastfeeding

The effect of the use of Isofra in lactation (in part, the allocation of drug metabolites with milk) has not been studied. However, the drug is applied topically, practically does not penetrate into the blood. Accordingly, it does not stand out with milk either, because this requires a high concentration of the drug or its metabolites in the blood, which is characteristic of drugs of general effect, taken orally, as well as injected.

Composition and form of release

The basis of the composition of Isofra is the active substance - the antibiotic framycetin sulfate from the aminoglycoside group in the amount of 12.5 mg per 1 ml of solution or 8000 IU per 100 ml.
Excipients:
    Water;
    preservatives.
Thus, the spray is a 1.25% solution of the antibiotic with preservatives.
Drops of Isofra are not produced. This is not necessary, the shape of the nose spray from the common cold is much more convenient and safer to use. Instructions for use isofra drops not.
The medicine is available in transparent plastic bottles with a spray nozzle and branded cardboard packaging in white and pink color with instructions for using the nose spray. The bottle is equipped with a screw cap and a spray.
It is small in volume - only 15 ml, but if used correctly, it lasts a long time. The contents of the bottle are a colorless, transparent odorless liquid.

pharmachologic effect

Isofra is a powerful antibacterial drug with local effects on the mucous membrane of the nasopharynx. Active against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, staphylococci and Escherichia coli, does not affect streptococci and anaerobic infection. Use of Isofra in allergic rhinitis is useless.
The spray is intended to combat acute and chronic infections of the upper respiratory tract. The specific action of framycetin in the destruction of cells of harmful bacteria. Penetrating into the nasal mucosa, the antibiotic penetrates the structure of foreign cells, slows down their synthesis of proteins and they die. The cause of the disease has been destroyed - the patient is recovering.

With frequent use of the spray, the body can develop resistant strains to the antibiotic in its composition, which reduces the effect of taking the drug.

Reviews

Polina
Isofra is a tiny bottle, but it lasts for a very long time. In our family (4 people), one bottle is enough for 2-3 years. The price has now risen significantly, but based on the price-quality ratio (as well as the period of use), it justifies itself completely.
Olga
I suffer from allergic rhinitis, so Isofra is my faithful friend. He swallows a vasoconstrictor effect and instantly relieves a runny nose with allergic rhinitis! It relieves symptoms very well and has no side effects!
Anna
My son is often sick, and mostly sinusitis and rhinitis. At the reception, the pediatrician, seeing his green snot, prescribed him “Isofra,” praising the drug very much. Bought, tested. It is easily tolerated, it did not cause any adverse reactions. The only thing is that the child frowns when I spray the medicine, apparently, it tastes bitter. Improvement came quickly. I know that they still appoint Polydex, but so far we have not encountered it.
