Bronchoplant is a phytopreparation with an expectorant, bronchospasmolytic and antimicrobial effect.
Release form and composition
Dosage form: syrup: brown in color with a characteristic odor (100 ml each in brown / orange glass bottles with the first opening control; in a cardboard pack 1 bottle with or without a measuring cup and instructions for use of Bronchoplant).
Composition 100 g syrup:
liquid thyme herb extract * (with a thymol content of 0.028%) - 9 g;
auxiliary components: purified water, caramel color, potassium sorbate, liquid sorbitol (non-crystallizing), glycerol, citric acid monohydrate.
* Obtained from the thyme grass (Thymus vulgaris L., family Yasnotkovy - Lamiaceae). The ratio of medicinal plant materials to the extract is 1 ÷ 2–2.5. Extractant: aqueous ammonia 25%, glycerol 100%, ethanol 95%, purified water in a ratio of 1 ÷ 42.5 ÷ 162.5 ÷ 294.
Pharmacokinetics
The properties of the drug are the result of the combined action of the biologically active components of the thyme herb extract, therefore, pharmacokinetic studies are not possible.
Collectively, substances cannot be traced using bioassays and markers.
Indications for use
Bronchoplant is used as part of complex therapy of infectious and inflammatory diseases of the respiratory tract, accompanied by cough with sputum that is difficult to separate, including tracheitis, bronchitis, tracheobronchitis and whooping cough.
Contraindications
Absolute:
peptic ulcer of the stomach and duodenum in the acute stage;
gastritis;
sucrose / isomaltase deficiency, glucose-galactose malabsorption, hereditary fructose intolerance;
heart rhythm decompensation;
children's age up to 1 year;
hypersensitivity to any component of the drug.
Relative (Bronchoplant syrup should be used with caution):
brain diseases;
traumatic brain injury;
alcoholism;
liver disease
Children's age from 1 year.
Bronchoplant, instructions for use: method and dosage
Bronchoplant syrup should be taken orally in a pure or diluted form with water. Meal time does not matter.
Unless otherwise prescribed by a doctor, it is recommended to observe the following dosage regimen depending on age:
children 1–5 years old: 5 ml (1 teaspoon) 2-3 times a day;
children 5-12 years: 5-10 ml (1-2 teaspoons) 3-4 times a day;
children from 12 years old and adults: 10-15 ml (2-3 teaspoons) 3-4 times a day.
The duration of treatment is determined by the therapeutic need and the characteristics of the course of the disease.
Side effects
from the gastrointestinal tract: diarrhea, irritation of the gastric mucosa;
from the immune system: allergic reactions.
Overdose
If the dose is exceeded, the following symptoms are possible: diarrhea, vomiting, irritation of the gastrointestinal mucosa.
The treatment is symptomatic.

100 g of syrup contains 31.5 g of sorbitol, 1 teaspoon - 1.85 g, which corresponds to 0.15 bread units.
It should be borne in mind that the composition of the drug contains up to 4% ethanol, in 1 teaspoon - up to 0.16 g of absolute ethanol.
The maximum content of absolute ethyl alcohol in higher doses (single and daily):
for children from 12 years old and adults: single - 0.48 g, daily - 1.92 g;
for children 5-12 years old: single - 0.32 g, daily - 1.28 g;
for children 1–5 years old: single - 0.16 g, daily - 0.48 g.

Influence on the ability to drive vehicles and complex mechanisms
During therapy, care must be taken when engaging in potentially hazardous activities that require precise movement and / or increased attention, including when working with moving mechanisms, driving a car, and driving other vehicles.
Pregnancy and lactation
There is insufficient experience in the clinical use of Bronchoplant in pregnant and breast-feeding women, so taking the drug is not recommended.
Use in childhood
Bronchoplant is contraindicated in children under 1 year old.
In children from 1 year to 12 years, the syrup should be used with caution and under the supervision of a doctor, since it contains ethanol.
