Composition and form of release

The main active ingredient is sodium bromfenac sesquihydrate, which is produced from phenylacetic acid by complex distillations. When in contact with the eyeball or the cornea of the eye, it blocks the production of prostaglandins. This reduces sensitivity and pain, and increases vascular permeability. At the same time, the component protects against pathogenic microflora, excluding the development of infection or conjunctivitis.
The composition is supplemented with chemicals that enhance the therapeutic effect of bromfenac:
    Boric acid. Protects the eyeball from fungal and bacterial inflammation, easily penetrates tissues without provoking a burning sensation.
    Twin-80 or E433 additive. As part of eye drops, Broxinac is responsible for hydration, enhances the production of tear fluid, relieves tone and itching.
    Anhydrous sodium sulfate. Effectively fights many groups of bacteria that often provoke complications after surgery.
    Povidone K 30. Acts on the inflamed cornea, restores balance and local immunity. Cleans the damaged surface, reducing puffiness and discomfort.
The manufacturer declared as additional preservatives: caustic soda, purified water, benzalkonium chloride, polysorbate.
A yellow or greenish solution is not viscous, transparent, has no sediment or impurities. Each bottle contains 1.7 mg of the drug, packed in a cardboard box with detailed instructions.

Pharmacological properties

Drops belong to the group of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs that act on nerve endings. They block the absorption of amino acids that stimulate the body's production of prostaglandins.
    This stops the development of pathological processes that provoke pain, burning, inflammation of the mucous membranes, gradually increases intraocular pressure and blood flow.
Relief and reduction of burning sensation is felt within 5-7 minutes after using Broxinac. The maximum concentration in the lacrimal fluid is reached 2.5–3 hours after instillation, and remains in the retina for at least 12 hours. The body needs more than 24 hours to completely eliminate the drug.

Indications for use

According to the instructions attached to the drug, Broxinac eye drops are prescribed after cataract surgery. They numb the organ of vision for 12-24 hours, relieve burning and irritation. The tool destroys bacteria that can provoke an infectious complication. The light moisturizing effect accelerates the healing and repair of the cornea.
Less common indications for use:
    reducing pain after an eye injury;
    prevention of inflammation after examination or surgery;
    treatment of complications of conjunctivitis;
    relief of symptoms in barley, episcleritis, keratitis;
    recovery after installing an artificial lens.
The main application of the drug is the prevention of postoperative complications, relief of pain attacks.
This is a drug with a narrow spectrum of action, which is often prescribed in combination with antibiotics, hormonal ointments. It is not intended to restore visual acuity after working at a computer, it is not used alone in the treatment of blepharitis or barley.

Method of administration and dosage

According to the instructions for use, Broxinac must be used only once a day, adhering to a certain algorithm of actions:
    wash your hands thoroughly, treat with a disinfectant solution;
    gently pull off the lower eyelid with your finger and apply 1 drop of the solution into the conjunctival sac;
    gently press on the inner corner and blink several times so that the composition is distributed over the cornea and eyeball.
If antibiotics are additionally prescribed for instillation into the eyes, it is necessary to take a break between procedures for at least 15 minutes. Therapy with the composition begins 1 day before the planned cataract surgery, lasts from 10 to 14 days. For other diseases, the regimen is calculated by the ophthalmologist individually.
