Release form and composition

The drug is produced in the form of a tincture, which is a clear liquid from light amber-brown to saturated red-brown color (15, 25, 40, 50 or 100 ml each in dark glass bottles or dropper bottles, one bottle in a cardboard box and instructions for the use of hawthorn tincture).
The composition of the tincture (per 1 liter):
    active ingredient: crushed hawthorn fruits - 100 g;
    auxiliary component (extractant): 70% ethanol (in an amount sufficient to obtain 1 liter of tincture).

Pharmacodynamics

The properties of the tincture are due to the presence of the following substances in the fruits:
    organic acids (oleanic, crategusic, chlorogenic, citric, ursolic, caffeic);
    fixed oils;
    flavonoids (hyperin, vitexin, quercetin, hyperoside);
    carotenoids;
    pectins;
    beta sitosterol;
    tannins;
    Sahara;
    flavone and triterpene glycosides;
    choline;
    vitamins.
Hawthorn components reduce the excitability of the heart muscle and the central nervous system, improve cerebral and coronary circulation, increase myocardial contractility, eliminate dizziness, normalize the heart rate (which, apparently, is due to the mechanism of action that is characteristic of class III antiarrhythmic drugs).
The antispasmodic properties of the tincture are due to the presence of flavonoids and triterpene glycosides, which selectively dilate the vessels of the brain and heart. These compounds help lower blood pressure; normalize venous pressure; improve the functioning of the vascular walls.
Experimental studies have shown that triterpene glycosides and hawthorn herbal preparations produce an antiatherosclerotic effect.
