The main active components of Enap-HL:
    enalapril maleate 10 mg;
    hydrochlorothiziad 12.5 mg.

The drug is marketed as flat, rounded, scored tablets. There are 10 tablets in a blister. One carton contains two blisters.

Pharmacological properties of Enap-HL

Enalaprinil blocks the conversion of the hormone angiotensin I to angiotensin II. The result is an increase in the level of angiotensin II, which has a pronounced vasoconstrictor effect. Narrowing of the lumen of blood vessels is the main cause of high blood pressure. The ACE enzyme reduces the level of angiotensin II, inhibits the breakdown of bradykinin, the antigen of angiotensin II. Enalaprinil reduces the concentration of aldosterone in the bloodstream, improves the work of the kallikrein-kinin vasodepressive system, which helps to maintain blood pressure within the normal range.
Hydrochlorothiazide is a medium-strength diuretic that slows down the return of fluid, chlorine, bicarbonate in the kidneys, and stimulates their excretion in the urine. As a result, the sodium content in the tissues and the susceptibility to vasoconstrictor factors decrease. This can significantly reduce the load on the organs of the cardiovascular system.
Enalapril causes retention of potassium in the blood, while hydrochlorothiazide lowers its levels. The combination of these two substances helps maintain the balance of potassium in the bloodstream.
