Active ingredient: butoconazole nitrate, in 1 g of cream - 20 mg.
Additional components: polyglyceryl-3-oleate, glycerol monostearate, wax, mineral oil, colloidal silicon dioxide, propyl parahydroxybenzoate, methyl parahydroxybenzoate, propylene glycol, disodium edetate, sorbitol, water.

Pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics

Gynofort refers to antimycotic drugs that are used in gynecology for the local treatment of vaginal infections caused by fungi.
Butoconazole - the active substance of the drug - is an imidazole derivative and has a fungicidal effect. It is fatal to fungal strains of the genus Epidermophyton (epidermophytosis), Candida (thrush), Microsporum (ringworm), Trichophyton (trichophytosis). The drug blocks the transformation of lanosterol into ergosterol in the cell membrane of the fungus and increases the permeability of the membrane, promoting the lysis (decay) of fungal cells.
The bioadhesiveness of the cream is quite high. With a single intravaginal use of the drug, butoconazole is determined on the vaginal mucosa for 4-5 days.
Systemic absorption of butoconazole with the introduction of the drug into the vagina is 1.7% of the recommended dose. The maximum plasma concentration of this substance is 2–18.6 ng / ml and is reached 13 hours after the drug is administered.
In the body, butoconazole is extensively metabolized and undergoes partial excretion through the kidneys and intestines.

Indications for use

Gynofort is used to treat vaginal candidiasis caused by Candida albicans.

Contraindications

The use of the drug is contraindicated in girls under 18 years of age, pregnant and breastfeeding women, as well as all patients with hypersensitivity to its components.
