Reslip is a H1-histamine receptor blocker from the group of ethanolamines. It has a hypnotic, antihistamine, sedative and m-anticholinergic action. The active ingredient is doxylamine.
After oral administration, doxylamine is rapidly and almost completely absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract. The maximum concentration of doxylamine in the blood plasma (Stah) is achieved on average in 2 hours (Ttah). Metabolized in the liver by demethylation and N-acetylation. It penetrates well through histohematogenous barriers, including the blood-brain barrier.
Excreted in 60% of the kidneys in unchanged form, in part - through the gastrointestinal tract. The half-life of doxylamine is about 10 hours.
In elderly patients and in patients with renal or hepatic insufficiency, the elimination half-life may be lengthened. With repeated doses of the drug, the equilibrium concentration of doxylamine and its metabolites in the blood plasma is reached later and at a higher level.

Instructions for use Reslip dosage

Tablets are taken orally, squeezed with a liquid in a small amount, 15-30 minutes before bedtime.
The recommended dose of the instruction - from half to 1 tablet Reslip 15mg per day. If the treatment is ineffective, according to the recommendation of the doctor, the dose may be increased to 30 mg (2 tablets) per day.
The duration of treatment is from 2 to 5 days. If symptoms of sleep disturbance persist, seek medical attention.
The maximum duration of treatment is 14 days.
Considering the change in pharmacokinetic parameters in renal / hepatic insufficiency, as well as in patients over 65 years of age, in these patients a dose reduction of the drug to 7.5 mg (1/2 tablet) is recommended.

Side effects of Reslip

Contraindications

    children up to 15 years old
    lactation period.

Assign with caution

    persons older than 65 years - due to possible dizziness and delayed reactions with the danger of falling (for example, during night awakenings after taking sleeping pills), as well as due to a possible increase in the half-life;
    in patients with renal and hepatic insufficiency (due to the possibility of increasing the half-life).

Overdose

In case of overdose, these symptoms may occur - agitation, daytime sleepiness, mydriasis, dry mouth, accommodation disturbances, hyperthermia, flushing of the face and neck, anxiety, depression of mood, disorder of consciousness, sinus tachycardia, poor coordination of movements, athetosis, tremor, hallucinations, epileptic syndrome (convulsions), coma.
The convulsions and involuntary movements, which sometimes arise in their run-up, indicate a severe overdose. Severe intoxication with doxylamine, even in the absence of seizures, can cause rhabdomyolysis syndrome, often accompanied by acute renal failure. It is recommended in such cases, the conduct of standard therapy with continuous monitoring of creatine phosphokinase levels.
If you have symptoms of overdose, you should immediately seek medical help.
Symptomatic treatment is recommended - this is the introduction of m-cholinomimetics and other means, as a first aid - taking activated carbon (for adults - 50 g, for children - 1 g / kg body weight).
