Release form

Bronchobos syrup is presented in two dosages - 2.5% and 5%. It is a clear pink liquid that smells like raspberries. This syrup is a little viscous and sweet in taste. Sometimes its color is darker, up to a red tint. It is sold in 200 ml brown glass bottles equipped with child protection.
Also, the drug is made in gelatin capsules containing 375 mg of the active compound in each. One package contains 30 such capsules, placed in blisters of 10 pieces.

Composition

The main ingredient in Bronchobos syrup is carbocysteine. It contains 125 mg in 5 ml of 2.5% medicine, and 250 mg in 5 ml of syrup with a concentration of 5%. Excipients of this drug are 96% alcohol (125 mg in 5 ml), purified water and glycerol.
Bronchobos syrup also contains Na hydroxide, citric acid, sodium carmellose, propyl and methyl para hydroxybenzoate. For smell and sweetness, Na saccharinate and raspberry flavor were added to the preparation, and the color of the syrup was provided with dye azorubine.

Operating principle

Carbocysteine in the composition of syrup Bronchobos has a mucolytic effect. It activates the work of goblet cells in the mucous membrane of the bronchial tree, affecting the production of enzymes by these cells. As a result of this effect, the characteristics of the bronchial secretion are normalized, and the mucus becomes less viscous. In addition, Bronchobos positively affects the state of the structure of the mucosa and the function of the epithelium (ciliated cells). The positive effect of the drug on the secretion of immunoglobulin A in the mucus is also noted.

Indications

Bronchobos syrup is prescribed for acute or chronic bronchopulmonary pathologies in which the production and evacuation of mucus is impaired, for example, with tracheitis, bronchitis, bronchiectasis, or bronchial asthma. Also, the drug is recommended for rhinitis, sinusitis or otitis media. The drug is also in demand in preparing the patient for such manipulations on the lungs as bronchography or bronchoscopy.

At what age is allowed to take?

A syrup with a dosage of the active compound of 2.5% is prescribed for children older than three years. As for a more concentrated drug (with a 5% carbocysteine content) and capsule form, the instructions for use prohibit giving such options for up to 15 years.

For a child aged 6-15 years, a syrup with a concentration of 2.5% is given 1 scoop three times a day. Often, a single dosage is increased to 10 ml (two measured spoons).
Children over 15 years old are given 5% syrup three times a day in the amount of three scoops (15 ml per reception). Also, at 15 years of age and older, Bronchobos can take 2 capsules. Interaction with other drugs
Treatment with Bronchobos syrup will enhance the therapeutic effect of antibiotics and glucocorticoids.
Such a drug also increases the effect of theophylline.
If you give your child atropine-like medicines or cough suppressants, this will decrease carbocysteine activity.
