Release form and medicinal composition

Aqualor Norm is an isosmotic solution of sea salt, which contains:
    purified sea water;
    calcium;
    magnesium;
    zinc;
    iron;
    selenium;
    iodine;
    sodium;
    potassium;
    copper.
Aqualor Norm is available in metal containers with a capacity of 125.0 ml, equipped with anatomical dispensers for convenient intranasal use. In a light blue cardboard box, there is 1 spray can and instructions for use.

Pharmacological properties

The aerosol preparation has a moderate vasoconstrictor and antiseptic effect, so it can be used in the treatment of infectious and allergic inflammation of the upper respiratory tract. It includes a set of trace elements that have a beneficial effect on cellular metabolism. Due to this, the regeneration of damaged tissues is accelerated, as a result of which hyperemia and swelling of the ciliary epithelium in the nasopharynx are eliminated.
Aqualor Norm have a wide range of pharmacotherapeutic properties:
    cleanses the nasal cavity and accessory sinuses from infected exudate, pathogenic microbes, fungi and viruses;
    increases local immunity, thereby reducing the likelihood of a relapse of infectious inflammation;
    moisturizes the ciliated epithelium and normalizes mucociliary clearance;
    enhances the therapeutic effect of decongestants, antibiotics and topical glucocorticosteroids;
    relieves irritation and accelerates the regression of inflammatory processes in the paranasal sinuses.
Unlike hypertonic solutions, an isoosmotic preparation does not dehydrate the mucosa. The systematic use of a washing agent reduces the need for nasal vasoconstrictor drugs. Thus, it is possible to prevent atrophy of the ciliary epithelium and the development of fetid cold (ozena).

Indications for use

Aqualor Norm is used as part of the combined palliative therapy of most respiratory diseases accompanied by rhinorrhea or impaired nasal breathing:
    hay fever;
    ARVI;
    hay fever;
    sinusitis;
    vasomotor rhinitis;
    chronic sinusitis;
    infectious rhinitis;
    atrophic runny nose;
    rehabilitation after adenotomy.
Instructions for use regulate the use of aerosol for preventive and hygienic purposes. The solution does not contain preservatives, so daily irrigation of the nasal cavity is not accompanied by irritation or dehydration of the nasopharynx.

Dosage regimen and rules of use

The washing agent is used in the treatment of adults and infants from 6 months. Aerosol is used intranasally to wash out the nasal canals and paranasal sinuses of exudate, allergens and pathogens. The dosage is determined by the purpose of the isosmotic solution and the patient's well-being:
    infectious or allergic rhinitis 3-5 times a day;
    prevention of inflammation of the nasopharynx 1-2 times a day;
    hygienic washing of the nasal cavity 1 time per day.
The course use of the drug leads to an increase in vascular tone and, as a result, a decrease in swelling of the choanas and nasal passages. In this regard, the outflow of nasal secretion from the sinuses is normalized and breathing through the nose is facilitated.

Application features

Irrigation of the nasal cavity in children under 2 years of age should be carried out in a prone position. To prevent the solution from flowing into the middle ear, the procedure must be performed in the following sequence:
    lay the child on his back and turn his head to the right;
    enter the tip of the dispenser into the left nostril to a depth of 3 mm;
    pressing the dispenser, flush the nasal canal for 7-10 seconds;
    seat the child for more convenient removal of mucus and residual solution with an aspirator;
    flush the right nasal canal in the same way.
After using the aerosol Aqualor Norm, it is not recommended to go for a walk with your child for an hour. This is due to the high likelihood of local hypothermia of the sinuses and, as a consequence, the development of complications: bacterial rhinitis, maxillitis, ethmoiditis, etc.

special instructions

Aqualor Norm has practically no restrictions on its use, as it does not contain synthetic antibiotics, vasoconstrictors, corticosteroids or antimycotics. But before using Aqualor Norm after resection of the nasal septum or adenotomy, you need to consult a doctor.
In the process of washing the nasal cavity in children under 2 years of age, it is not recommended to enter the dispenser deep into the nasal canal. Injection of an isosmotic solution under pressure is accompanied by the penetration of infected nasal exudate into the auditory tube. As a result, this can lead to the development of salpingo-otitis or catarrhal otitis media.

Gestation and lactation

The bearing of the fetus and the lactation period are not contraindications for local therapy with a washing agent.

Alcohol compatibility

Alcohol does not affect the pharmacological properties of the aerosol and the effectiveness of local therapy.

Drug Interactions

The isotonic solution cleanses the surface of the nasopharynx from mucous secretions, which improves the absorption of active substances of glucocorticosteroids, topical decongestants and antibacterial sprays.

Overdose and adverse reactions

Instructions for use do not contain information about cases of overdose with nasal aerosol. Theoretically, sea salt can cause allergic reactions in case of hypersensitivity to the trace elements included in it. The most likely side effects after irrigation of the nasal cavity are:
    itching and burning in the nose;
    swelling of the nasopharynx;
    difficulty in nasal breathing;
    flushing of the nasal mucosa;
    redness of the conjunctiva of the eyes;
    frequent sneezing
    sore throat;
    excessive secretion of nasal mucus.
If the above symptoms appear, it is advisable to cancel the hygiene procedures and seek the help of an otolaryngologist.

Contraindications

The isosmotic solution of sea salt is not used in the treatment of children under 6 months of age, as well as in case of hypersensitivity to the active components. Caution should be taken to rinse the nose after surgical removal of polyps and adenoids or resection of the nasal septum.
