Composition
Drops Visomitin - a novelty on the market of ophthalmic drugs, which has a unique composition. It was developed by the Russian academician V.P. Skulachev on the basis of many years of research and clinical work. Modern components minimize the risk of allergies and side effects.
The composition is based on the chemical plastoquinonyldecyltriphenylphosphomy bromide, which in low concentration has an antioxidant effect. The following components provide anti-inflammatory and moisturizing effect:
sodium chloride;
hypromellose;
benzalkonium hydrochloride.
The solution contains distilled water and sodium hydroxide, which cleanse and normalize the pH level of the eye after instillation.
Release form
Visomitin drops are a clear liquid without color and sediment. It is odorless and spreads easily over the cornea and sclera. Packaged in dropper bottles with a dispenser that helps you drip your eyes on your own at home.
In the pharmacy, drops are offered in a package of an opaque plastic bottle of 5 ml. The cardboard box contains a complete list of components, and detailed instructions allow you to choose the right dosage.
Pharmachologic effect
The main component is distributed and penetrates into the upper layer of the sclera, leaving an invisible film on the surface. It is an artificial tear that protects the eyes from any kind of radiation, stimulating the process of restoring the pH balance to optimal. Pharmacological properties of the drug, declared by the manufacturer:
antioxidant;
keratoprotective;
anti-inflammatory;
anti-catarrhal;
regenerating.
With increased exposure to radiation from sunlight, a computer monitor or TV, the photo-oxidation process starts in the lens. It gradually destroys crystallins and the lipid layer, which negatively affects the quality and visual acuity, and provokes the development of cataracts. The problem is increasingly being diagnosed among office workers and young people who spend more than 3-4 hours in front of a monitor.
When using Visomitin, the negative effect is neutralized, it is possible to stop the destruction of the lens. It removes toxins, stimulates the production of natural tears, stimulates the regeneration of the corneal epithelium.
Pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics
Visomitin eye drops were developed by the active group of CJSC "Framon" Research Institute of Mitoengineering of the Scientific Center at Moscow State University and patented in 2012. The development used innovative components, new methods of mixing and homogenization. Clinical studies on the drug are ongoing.
Pharmacodynamics
The main active ingredient is produced in the laboratory as a plastoquinone derivative. It is a natural antioxidant involved in the process of photosynthesis. As part of the drops, it removes toxic oxygen compounds, binds free radicals and slows down cell aging. In a water-soluble formula, Visomitin normalizes the state of the lens, relieves tension and hypertonicity, neutralizes light radiation in the range of up to 240-320 nm.
Pharmacokinetics
The drug has undergone clinical studies in animals. When applied topically, it is practically not absorbed into the patient's blood, it is concentrated in the vessels of the eyeball.
The period of complete excretion by the kidneys is 36–48 hours. The liver completely neutralizes the droplets with the help of secreted enzymes, binding them to proteins.

Reviews about Visomitin
The doctors' comments about Visomitin are contradictory. Many specialists are just beginning to use drops in the treatment of patients, collecting observational and research data. But they note the effectiveness and the minimum number of side effects.
Evgeniy, 42 years old
I am a programmer, I spend 12 hours a day at the monitor, so I suffer from cramps and dryness. I turned to an ophthalmologist and the doctor surprised me that the situation would soon end with a deterioration in vision, wearing glasses. Now I use Visomitin drops in the morning and in the evening, I feel significant relief. The only drawback is the high price of the drug.
Elena, 58 years old
The diagnosis of "the initial stage of cataract" became for me a serious test and an unpleasant surprise. As part of the complex treatment, I was prescribed Visomitin drops. I used them for 6 months according to the instructions, but practically did not notice any improvement, the feeling of a film on my eyes did not disappear. But at the next examination, the doctor noted that the development of the disease had completely stopped. I decided to continue treatment and not change the drug.
