Aluminum hydroxide (algeldrate) and magnesium hydroxide inhibit the acidity of gastric juice by neutralizing free hydrochloric acid in the stomach and bile bile acids, preventing their absorption. The ability of algeldrat to reduce intestinal motility compensates for the laxative effect of magnesium hydroxide. Simethicone complicates the formation of gas bubbles and contributes to their destruction, and the gases that are released in this case are adsorbed by the intestinal walls and are excreted from the body due to intestinal peristalsis.
